Chainsaw Man

I will avoid spoiling the best I can, my major grips are spoilers though. I feel as though this manga is way too fast, granted I haven't read to much manga, and i'd love for it to slow down for a bit to get to know the characters. Like the mc is very peculiar and the main aspect of his personality being that he is mostly doesn't have deep emotion or shows it for a second. It could be an important part of the plot (which if so it would be grand) but it just makes me not like the guy. The real character that I feel is such a good part of the show, besides makima i'll get to her in a second, is Aki. he's supposedly apathetic but shows more emotion than the mc and seems to get the short end of the stick, id like some more development for him, maybe a short solo arc. Now makima is very well written and her mystery is the thing holding me to the show, I don't know what will become of her but I hope we and Denji get the truth sooner than later whatever it be. Also, I hope hell becomes a bigger aspect. I like it so far, though it makes me a little sad with the lack of character depth and scenes, I remember looking at a table of characters I was ready to get know... so far 8/10

When I first saw Chainsaw man, I honestly kind of expected a shock value story where characters are killed off in gruesome ways that's filled with all the fixings for edgy anime fans. Well, it can be like that, but it can also be surprisingly great.

The story focuses on Denji, a devil human guy who fights devils. Pretty typical setup, I know, but there are some interesting ideas. Normal people can make contracts with devils, devils can possess humans and be fiends, and the coolest in my opinion is that a devil's power is dictated by how feared the thing they represent is. It has simple but effective worldbuilding.

The characters are also pretty good. Denji is a pretty normal teen who just wants to live a simple life. While simple on his own, he's very interesting when with other characters, especially his employer Makima. Other characters like Aki and Power are pretty good too, and the others are fun at the least. There are a few characters that feel like devil fodder, but the series doesn't usually just kill characters for shock value. One problem I have with characters is the designs. Sometimes I would confuse different characters because they look so similar, wearing the same clothes, with the same kind of hair, and not much else to differentiate from each other. I wish the author gave some characters a hat or something.

In terms of the story, I like it. It can be hard to follow sometimes, but it's a solid tale of Denji dealing with normal teen problems, most notably those of relationships. I feel like this is a story made for teens first, so it might not be for everyone. The battles are very simple and straightforward usually, and I do kind of hope future parts could expand on certain ideas to make cooler fights.

The art ranges from very messy to incredible. It lacks the polish of other first-rate Jump titles, but the art can still look great. The author also has a great grasp on how to use manga paneling to effect a scene. One of my favorite pages in the series is just a simple moment that perfectly explains a character's emotions without words. The only problem I have with the art is the aforementioned character designs.

Chainsaw man is a surprisingly effective series that is unrepentantly edgy yet unrepentantly good. It's fast-paced, but also slows down when it needs to. I can't wait for part 2 and the anime adaptation.

This is a hidden gem that will soon blow up all across the internet!

This meets the requirement of being psychological & slightly philosophical manga.

Once I started reading it I couldn't put it down till I caught up to the latest chapter.

It's manga like this that got me back on MAL since I need to be able to track, store, exchange titles with ease.

All of the characters in this manga are interesting for the most part.

So, far there hasn't been one dull moment!

The pacing is fantastic, I really hope it continues to be interesting.

The only downside of reading pending mangas is waiting for it to complete & the potential of the ending turning to crap.

I doubt this manga will go downhill.

I have several characters I'm rooting for & like how there's no official plot shield.

Everything is drawn nicely.

There are several relatable moments between the outlandish panels.

"I want to be your dog" - Denji

About a boy with a huge debt in a world full of humans in contracts with devils. Each devil's strength is based on how much fear it's counterpart in the real world can give off. Devil hunters of course exist in this world, and Denji (after several things happen), decided to join the devil hunters, to grope some boobs.

Took me 2 days to read the whole manga, while school was bugging me to attend lessons, homework, and tests.

Read this manga, you won't regret. Unless of course you can't stand to see blood (which there will be a lot of).

The art is absolutely gorgeous, and each individual characters has interesting personalities, some may lack depth, but the art compensates for it.

The mystery added with brutal fights and emotional love hate relationships with each characters are so amusing.

This is a pure gory entertainment media

Honestly, I really want to make this a genuine review and I don't want to give it a 10 in all areas but I have to and here's why.

CHAINSAW MAN
This manga is what truly opened my eyes to how insanely good storytelling can be. This manga focuses on a character named Denji and his journey throughout this brutal world. I will not say anything that happens in the story because this is a must read and it has so many moments that will blow your god damn mind. There's a whole arc that gets so mindblowingly insane that I had to walk off and take a breather before I continued. Chainsaw man has some of the biggest and best twists ever, that will definitely throw you for a loop and make you question things and this is just the story. The comedy in the manga is also perfect, It will have you laughing your ass off quite a lot with some really memorable moments, then just when you thought you were having a good time we rip out the chainsaw. Now the fights are a whole new story, They are absolutely destructive and will have you worshipping the art. All I can say is why are you reading this review and not reading csm? Go read that shit right now

Picked this gem up just trying to read some recent manga, and boy am I glad I did.

Chainsaw Man is just a kickass, bloody maelstrom, and the artist is able to capture this perfectly. The enjoyability factor of some of these scenes was just through the roof.

As for the devils themselves, a power system based off fear was an ingenious move. I look forward to see more and more of these primordial devils based of concepts such as darkness.

The MC (Denji) reminds is your average shounen guy: a rambunctious, hit-first-think-later blockhead with some backstory. Despite that, he's a relatable guy who has simpler goals than becoming Hokage or the Pirate King (I'll let you figure his goal out if you haven't read it ;) )

I will say the trio trope isn't very innovative in itself, but I think it's pulled off well. There's no real "sensei figure" (I mean if you count the 1st division dude who beat the shit out of them for a couple chapters LOL), which frees it from that archetype. However, a main character like Makima/Control Devil is hard not to appreciate. She's such a complex character and with the events of the end of Part 1, I can't wait to see whatever the fuck happens next part.

If you're looking for a fun, energetic read, pick this up folks! I hope the upcoming anime adaptation will preserve equal levels of badassery!

This story has topped masterpieces that I onced considered to have the biggest influence upon me. Everything ranging from the art, storytelling, characters was for me, near perfect. I have always thought manga needed a bit of spice to it; instead of just reading it in the silence. This is my personal way of reading, many do not like it; however I am going to tell you how I experienced the book. For this manga I decided to use the theme Merry Go round of life from Howl's Moving Castle. I choose this song randomly and found it to be fitting of the book chainsaw man from my perspective. I put it this song on a loop and just read to find that this theme was a perfect fit for Chainsaw Man. The art was a perfect fit for such a free sounding theme, yet slightly more negatively pitched incorporated in the song complimented some dark and even saddening parts within the book. There is too much for me to say when you listen to this song in conjunction with the manga, However if you like to read manga with any sort of music, I recommend you read with Merry Go round of life from Howl's Moving Castle. It might be odd but if you like dark, humorous and complex plots your sure to lose yourself in the manga while the music is playing in the background. Anyhow now for the actual review:


Characters:
Ohh boyyy there is so much to say about the characters, especially there developement. This manga takes it to the extent to bring life to each and every character, even with characters who appeared for maybe half a chapter I found myself intrigued with them. Maybe because of how unique their designs were that maybe it felt like they would have a big role in the future or maybe because they felt like legit humans. Either way I was infatuated with characters. Characters like Denji, who is unique for his laxidasical goals and his simple personality comes to flourish beautifully. This growth is felt reflected within the plot.
Example: (SPOILER!!!)
After finding himself completely depressed, Makima finds him and he then expresses that he wants to be her dog as he is scared of the world he lives in. Makima thus treats him like a dog, and someway becomes an observant to watching one of his loved ones die. The plot takes a huge escalation and for good reasons as it seems for once in Denji's life he comes to care for others(as previously he didn't necessarily care). The conjunction between Denji's growth and the plot was to me an extremely interesting take.

I could honestly go on forever about the characters even the small ones. They are all so deep and you get attached to them so quickly, they are all beatifully written and all have a human like essence to them. Yet even with all that, Chainsaw Man accomplishes what Akame ga kill(the anime) couldn't. Akame ga kill tried to make you sympathize with the characters and kill them off, however it failed completely and kills them for the sake of trying to destroy you(the only character I found myself semi-caring for was Tatsumi).

Yet the first character in Chainsaw Man, I found myself shook. The beautiful cuts of Himeno's manga panel death scene, I could imagine it as if it were an anime; and when this character, who seemed to have an actual personality, died; I actually cared. Within Himeno's personality we see flaws and humanity, from disgust to lust to what she does for Aki(her love), I came to admire her short-lived character so much. That is only one of the characters, there are to many for me to admire them all.

Chainsaw man provides a perfect and beautiful realism of death, and puts into emphasis the dangerousness and cruelty of the world they live in and the dangerousness of certain characters.

Art: I loved the art I found some panels to be filled with intense depth. The art may seem a bit bland to others however while listening to Merry Go round of life, everything felt like it fit in place.

Story: The story is a fresh new breath into what the future shonen could be; it encourages a darker and more unhinged story telling; which is not really seen much in many shonen manga. The story has so many curveballs which can be predicted with the very subtle hints at foreshadowing. However I found myself being yanked around; completely destroying my expectations whenever I thought something was going to happen. It is unpredictable and that is what I believe is where the core of the story resides. Throughout this story I found myself so persuaded that I knew what was going to happen next and in the next chapter my vision was completely denied. It brings to attention the genericity that we expect to see in many shonen manga, however this completely Chainsaw Man completely destroys this concept of same old cliches.

Many also criticize the manga for how it felt rushed towards the end and even I admit that it was a pretty huge escalation. This is based on pure reference but having watched movies like Mother! And Devilman Crybaby, I have come to love huge escalations as I view it as a part of the curveball process. There is a common misconception that taking it slow is ideal. It is not, after experiencing an anti-hero type Denji, his emotions and realization completely combats the not-caring Denji we initially saw.

It runs away from the subtle cliche implemented within a lot of todays manga: the build-up(this structure is absolutely amazing and is foundation of love for different mangas). While the build-up does create hype and allows readers to understand what is going on, this huge escalation fits perfectly with the tone that Chainsaw Man embodies “randomness”. This theme of randomness is displayed throughout the entirety of the manga from art to characters. Although I don’t think Chainsaw Man nailed the huge escalation(in fact I have never seen any piece of literature achieve such), I still love its attempt at doing so. I genuinely don’t think huge escalations will ever achieve a somewhat ideal state in manga/anime/film due to the underlying stigma it has in the entertainment industry(many people believe that everything must be taken slow, but it shouldn’t be the case). Even so, Chainsaw Man’s huge escalation manages to achieve so much and reveal even more depth about the characters.

The author teases us with Makima for the entirety of 80 chapters barely revealing anything about her. But the huge escalation reveals her true emotions and her true intents and all of that is backed up by her mysterious atmosphere and actions she gives off earlier in the manga

Speaking about depth this manga, it is pretty deep. The different kinds of devils portray themes of nihilism and existentialism however i am tired and wanna go to bed.

Anyways Chainsaw Man to me is absolutely amazing, although it dethrones every anime I have ever watched, in terms of manga(although I have not read many), it is second place after Berserk. For a bit more context into a comparison between Chainsaw Man and Berserk, Berserk beats it by 50%. Anyways thats all from me im tired af.

Chainsaw Man is probably one of the most unique manga I've read, and that is in part due to how chaotic and bat-shit crazy it is. It isn't afraid to wear its influences on its sleeve (Dorohedoro and JJK, as stated by the author himself), but it still manages to be amazingly unique and wild.

The story is mainly just about this poor (in every sense of the word) boy named Denji, who has a demon friend who also lives in his heart who also helps him kill other devils. Don't worry, it will make sense as you read the manga more, much like Dorohedoro.

This manga does everything. It has action, interesting worldbuilding, fun characters, and most importantly it's own sense of style. It even made me laugh the hardest from any manga I've ever read from from just 6 pages, during a very memorable scene involving hamburgers.

There isn't much else that I can or want to say about Chainsaw Man, because so much of it is just so unique and hard to explain. I also don't want to say too much because of potential spoilers, as explaining parts of what makes this manga so unique might be a spoiler (Halloween!). All I can say is that this manga is very good, even bordering on great, and is definitely worth a read.

The only things that I didn't really like in the manga is how it feels a bit incomplete. There isn't nearly enough information on things like the darkness devil, for example. However, these issues should be fixed, as there will be a part two coming out soon.

Story: 9/10. Pretty interesting story, really unique world, however it does feel a bit incomplete, as I mentioned above. This opinion will probably change as part 2 comes out.

Art: 9/10. The art is very unique, but sometimes it feels a little bit scuffed at times. This isn't necessarily bad, but I don't give out 10s for art carelessly, and although the art is very good I don't think it compares to the art of I Am a Hero or Boichi's work, for example.

Enjoyment: 10/10. One of the most fun series I've read.

Characters: 10/10 The characters are great. Power is one of my favorite characters, and I loved watching the relationship between her, Denji, and Aki progress. The villains are also great. Santa Claus is amazing, for example. I personally am indifferent to Makima, but watching the online wars revolving around her simps and normal people is also super fun.


Overall: 9/10 There isn't much to dock off points for. The only reason that this manga isn't perfect is because it feels a bit incomplete, which should hopefully be fixed as part 2 begin to be published.

When it comes to assigning scores to any type of media, I like to have fully completed the piece before slapping a grade on it. With Chainsaw Man, I can't resist - I've got to sing my praises on this manga now.

If catching up on 69 chapters of a manga (up-to-date as of this review) in the span of a few hours is any indication that a series is phenomenal, then I don't know what is. Way back in its 3-chapter Jump Start days, I initially tried the series and passed on it. Years later, I decided to give it another shot, and I'm very glad I did. This manga has definitely evolved into something great over time.

Chainsaw Man, in brief, is a story about a young man named Denji and his chainsaw dog who hunt Devils together. They attract the attention of a government agency who also hunts Devils, and Denji is eventually assigned to help the organization. Although this seems fairly par for the course for a Shonen Jump, it's the characterization that differentiates Chainsaw Man from its peers. Denji isn't driven by some grand goal or dream, but his own selfish (and often perverted) hedonistic desires. Aki plays the role of the tragic hero (trying to keep this spoiler-free!), but his tragedy helps mold him into an incredibly deep and flawed character. Makima's unclear motives give an all-around mysterious air to her; her moral ambiguity and unknown abilities leaves you wanting answers.

The art style, while not my favorite, adds yet another layer of grit to this already fairly gruesome story. The designs of the Devils/fiends are insanely creative and stylish as well.

It's shocking to me that a manga that teases the line between seinen and shonen got a long-running series in SJ, but I'm glad it did: it pushes the boundaries of what a shonen series should be. The amount of hyper-violence, gore, and adult themes is refreshing from the standard affair, and I'm loving every minute of it.

I read 79 chapters (9 volumes) in one night. The story progresses in a good pace. It's a good mix of violence, lust, humor, mystery and politics. Binge reading is recommended. A few quotes and behaviors of characters in the manga made me reflect my real life. I think a good chunk of the male population in teens and 20s will enjoy reading it.

The art is simple and standard for the most part. It could be considered average, or maybe slightly below average. If you want to look at pretty panels go read other works.

I liked the setting of the story because there were a few rules in the world that made the dynamic of the characters interesting.

Is Chainsaw Man Good? Yes, it is a dark and violent manga, with unexpected plot twists and with bloody but detailed artwork. In my opinion as a newbie manga reader, it is good, but it still has distance from being a masterpiece.


Plot Summary, With Spoilers

The plot is unexpected and it has a kinda sad ending. Denji is a boy who has to pay his already dead father’s debts to the yazuka, and with his devil friend Pochita, he earns money to pay of his debts. As most of his money goes to pay his debts, his life is hellish. When Makima offered Denji to be “her pet”, which is a disrespectful offer to most humans, Denji who has inherited Pochita’s heart accepted this offer, finally leaving his hellish lifestyle and started his life as a normal human.

Denji’s start as a Public Safety Devil Hunter is exciting, slaying devils with might in a chaotic and gruesome way while expressing love to Makima, the one girl who saved him and expressed her feelings to him. He’s a beast, and while the manga showed the happy life of Denji joking around with his comrades in the Public Safety Divisions, I started to wonder if this manga is just “another OP MC slaying enemies” kinda manga, but I was wrong.

After the fight with the Bomb Devil, which was Reze, a girl that pleases and “loved” Denji, Denji was betrayed by the one he once loved and was hunted by assassins everywhere in the world.

Again, Denji killed all of them, but he was betrayed once again, by the one he loved the most, Makima. She killed one of Denji’s friends, the blood fiend Power, in the case to weaken him and hunted Denji with other Weapon Devils, turns out the words of expression to Denji at the start is not towards Denji, but to the inner Chairsaw demon who she is a fan of. The Chainsaw Demon did beat Makima’s squad first, but when Denji confronted Makima once again, she destroyed him and pulled out his Chainsaw Heart and showed her love towards it, but Denji killed her with a Chainsaw, leading to her death. While Denji was asked why he succeeded in killing Makima, he answered that he sensed Makima doesn’t sense faces, and she only senses the Chainsaw Devil within him, but not being able to sense Denji himself.

In the ending, Denji ate Makima’s meat, being in one with her.

I felt very sad when I reached the end, although Denji is the most chaotic one while he’s on the battlefield, he has the purest soul of all, with no vengeance, ho hatred, just a simple wish of having a simple, happy life. But yet, he’s tricked by the people he treasured the most, yet he still released Reze and let Makima enter his body, very stupid actions yet I felt very sad for him.

The villains of the story are well presented too, the Blade Devil, the Bomb Devil are both comrades with Makima, whose also a devil. They aren’t some randomly regenerated enemies who appear just for Denji to show his dominance but plays a role at the end to confront Denji again. In my opinion, the plot isn’t just some straight forward plot with friendship and power, but a dark and sad plot with good twists. I can’t wait for the future parts of this manga and hopes for more explanations on the Chainsaw Devil. I will temporarily give it an 8/10 due to the fast pacing in the ending and lack of explanations on some parts of the story, but I’m sure there will be explanations in the second part.


Art 8/10

I am a fan of bloody and gory action manga/anime, it raises my heart rate and boils my blood, hyping me up with that adrenaline rush, and the art of Chainsaw is freaking good all the way from the start to the end, the detailed gory scenes with blood spilling everywhere, blades and bullets tearing through flesh and bones, it makes me pumped up. Although in the later chapters, I find the art somehow a bit packed and complicated, there are too many things happening on the scenes, which makes my experience less enjoyable, but overall it has very good artwork.


Characters 8/10

I have my eyes focused on Denji, Power, Makima, and Aki all the time. Fujimoto Tasuki has successfully molded them into very good characters, he created a mysterious atmosphere for Makima, a child-like behavior for Denji and Power, while successfully writing the sad backstory of Aki. Every character in the manga has an actual clear reason to be in the manga, personalities of side characters such as the Angel Devil, Himeno, and Kobeni are clearly shown in the manga, expressing their struggles to the readers. The characters also have good interactions with others, creating different atmospheres in different situations.

Conclusion

I like this manga, it’s different, it’s dark and it’s unexpecting good, Its artwork and storyline impacts my brain and I can’t wait for Part 2 of it.

I enjoyed reading it. Couldn't put it down or shut up about it for a while.
If you like action and/or some legit good, sometimes dark, comedy and if you don't mind the gore I heartily recommend it.
It's good, crazy good.
It's something truly different and new. Unique even (with some inspirations from Hunter x Hunter and Devilman I think)
Also really enjoyable. Plus easy to get into, it's not even a hundred chapters and I believe it's nearing it's end (cough HxH cough).
The art might seem weird at first but I think it alwas gets the job done (I especially like the "timing" of the jokes with the panels) and during big moments it gets really REALLY amazing.







To be fair, it's far from perfect: if the mangaka nails the ending these issues might solve but
1) I don't like the final arc(s?) that much like the ones before, although they are still really good and a fuurn time

2) Chainsawman starts out cynical as hell which I think contributes to it's absurd and dark humor which is my favourite thing about it. But because of this when reaching the beginning of the end I don't think I was as attached as I should be.
I was curious what would happen but maybe because of the volume of violance and death so far I was untouched I dunno. Maybe I'm heartless because I've read the opposite from fan comments but it was weird.

Nevertheless go for it, it's a great read, it's a great time, buy it if you can because we need new, bold and unique stuff like Chainsawm
Fingers crossed for a good adaptation!

Chainsaw Man is a Seinen anime that is not what it seems. This manga, the first time you see it, it looks like a Newgrounds animation, but the it has many redeeming qualities, and makes all of the characters likeable.

Story: 7/10 The story is actually very well written. It centers around Denji, a Devil Slayer who is working for the mafia to pay off his debts, with his partner, a friendly cute looking devil named Pochita. After the Mafia Betrays him and kills Denji, Pochita sacrifices himself to save Denji, turning Denji into a half human, half devil. He can manually change into the Chainsaw devil, a devil that has a human form, but has chainsaws coming out of its arms, head and feet at times. The story seems cliche, but the more it goes on, the better it gets. Denji at first, has a goal to touch Boobs, or "Cop a Feel" As Denji puts it. Seriously that's his goal, but when he finally "Cops a feel" He feels empty as if his life has no purpose, he has a home, he touched a breast, but then, his goals become bigger, he strives to get a kiss from Makima, and the end goal is to marry Makima. O

Art: 7/10 As said before, the Art is rough. It can feel awkward at times, with character's stances and proportions feeling odd and too tense. Some of the characters can look almost odd, like a Gi Joe figure who's legs and arms can only go forward and back. But in lots of the panels, much of the art can be breathtaking, like Denji in his Devil Form jumping into a crowd of zombies, blood splewing everywhere, his chainsaws ripping through the zombies flesh. Or some of the calmer moments, when Denji starts to fall in love with another girl, kissing that said girl. All the devil's designs are extremely unique and original, along with being extremely detailed. At times, it even reminded of some of Junji Ito's Illutstrations

Characters: 8/10: Almost every character is fleshed out, has their own problems, aspirations, goals, and personality. Denji as said before, is a perfect example. At the start, all he wants is to eat good food and sleep in a comfy bed, when he joins the Devil Hunter Organization, he gets that, and feels like he doesn't need to do anything anymore. But then, he forms a goal, to as said before "Cop a Feel" Or touch a boob, when he does that, he feels empty, but then, he makes a bigger goal to get Makima's love. When a new love interest arrives, Denji is second guessing his love for Makima, he now loves this girl, (Who eventually turns out to be a villian, but nevermind that) All the character's feel real, and like their actually going through these events, not just Gary Stu's or Mary Sue's. Denji can be a jerk at sometimes, not caring about when somebody close to him lost a loved one. Denji is his own character, not a courageous hero. At one time, he even offered to run away with that girl who he loved.

Enjoyment: 8/10: Chainsaw Man stands out between the other manga currently going, it could be the future of popular manga, none the less, I loved it

Overall: 8/10: Chainsaw man is truly unique and great, if your looking for a real hardcore manga, with interesting characters, a good story, and and interesting premise, check out Chainsaw Man.

Reading this manga is like riding a rollercoaster - One that you can't get off. One that goes up, down, and does loop-de-loops whenever it feels like. One that also has a literal sociopath as its operator.

Chainsaw Man is a breath of fresh air to both JUMP and quite possibly to the manga industry as a whole. Whatever expectations you may have from a shounen are thrown out the window and curb-stomped in front of your eyes before you're promptly shot in the chest and thrown out with them. This manga is something truly unique.

For what in specific is great about the manga:
-The paneling: While the art may be rather rough and simplistic, the paneling and page layouts are something else. Tatsuki Fujimoto knows how to put together a page, and with that how to stretch the limits of how panels can be used and subsequently abused.
-The characters: Every major character in this story is incredibly realistic in their motives, beliefs, and actions, which despite the commonly fantastical feel of the story helps to keep it rather grounded. Relationships between characters will slowly develop and grow over the course of dozens of chapters and multiple arcs, and each instance of development or growth that's shown in a character feels deserved and realistic in nature.
- The fucks it gives: None. This manga pushes the limits of what can reasonably be serialized in Shounen JUMP - One of the color pages is literally just a lesbian monster-girl orgy. This manga has the heart of a shounen, but with many attributes of a seinen (Somewhat similar to Jujutsu Kaisen).

For it's flaws:
- The pacing: While not necessarily a bad thing, some may be turned off by just how fast the pacing of this manga can be. One chapter can be one filled with jokes and heart-warming moments, while the next rips your heart out and spits on it. Binging this manga in one go will likely be the best way to experience it once it's completed.
- Excessive Deaths: This manga likes to kill off it's characters. A lot. So much that some characters will feel under-utilized within the story, as not even a dozen chapters after their introduction they've already bitten the dust. While this does work well to keep the cast of Chainsaw Man constantly feeling fresh and not stale, it may be a turn-off to some to have a good portion of all the new characters introduced killed off so quickly.

In summation, I'd HIGHLY recommend at least giving this manga a chance. The manga as a whole, and especially the latest arcs as of this review (CH85) is some of the most unique stuff that I have ever seen published in JUMP.

Chainsaw Man... is best.

this manga is so good in so many ways. The character development is the best I've seen in the last few years. The story has a smooth transition between conflicts and the main characters have really good development but some characters didn't have much material that i wish they had but i cant ignore that even though they didn't have enough development they still had a major impact on the story. The art style can really bring out the emotions of the story. The enjoyment I had reading this manga for the past 2 years was the most I had in a long time. I can see the whole anime community enjoying this story when it gets an anime adaptation.

A wonderful and fucked up story. It gives me evangelion, Attack on titan and Jujutsu kaisen (even though I read Jujutsu kaisen later than Chainsaw man) Vibes. The Development of denjis emotions and feelings or actually his whole character is beautiful. The deaths of the different Characters (I won't say any names because of Spoiler) are actually sad and valueble for the development of denjis View on the world or in general life itself. The fact that Mappa (an Anime studio if you don't know) will make the anime of chainsaw man fills me with joy. They did such a great job in the animation of Jjk and I hope it will be the same for chainsaw man.

I totally loved reading this action-packed manga. Chainsaw Man is fun and more fun from the beginning to end. Being focused more on the visuals than the dialogue, it's a pretty quick read and you can actually end up finishing all the available chapters in just one day! Although it's true the gore during action scenes makes it at times hard to understand the fighting moves, but a couple of quick re-watches can clear that.

The manga is loaded with high-voltage chainsaw action, which not only made me feel impressed with the artist's skills (new manga reader here, hi) but also made me wonder how an anime adaptation is going to recreate those ultra-violent but equally enjoyable action sequences. The dark humor sprinkled from time to time seems to fit with the overall tone of the manga, given the protagonist is a young boy with extraordinary powers but simple, human ambitions. Denji's character might not be very deep or complex, but he's still fun during the fights and even some hilarious parts. Power is similarly impressive; her character often provides comic relief, but also leaves a stronger impact when serious moments come. Aki is written well too; he's one of those supporting guys who's a professional and yet not invulnerable. The real complex character is that of Makima; you can never predict what she might be thinking and what she often ends up doing surprises not just Denji, but the reader as well. Pochita is just a cute but equally well-written character that makes its presence felt even when we don't see it on the page always.

The story is simple, but it is really enjoyable and memorable at the same time. Some initial character moments left me emotional, and they stayed with me even as I kept moving from chapter to chapter. And as it progressed, it only got better. Realizing how it started and what it slowly transformed into, I found Chainsaw Man a gem of its type. I'm not saying it's 100 percent perfect, but it's fast-paced, exhilarating and packed with nonstop action. If any of that ticks all the boxes for you, give this one a read. As someone who's just started reading manga (this is my second one I've read in entirety after Astra: Lost in Space) on Shonen Jump app, this one was pretty good to start with, and I'd love to see more of it, whether it's another part, an anime adaptation or both. Strongly recommended for action lovers.

Even with an average ending this will still probably end up going down as my favorite anime/manga ever despite me reading and watching hundreds.

Story: The story is absolutely a masterpiece, whether it was an unexpected event, or an absolutely stunning revelation, the story had me going from one chapter to the next without stop. And when I did stop to take a break from reading, I found myself thinking and engrossed with the story and the world of "Chainsaw Man." The only pieces of fiction I could even compare it to were only best of the best in manga, and even found myself drawing comparisons with a lot of Stephen King's work. The amount of story and the impact it had per chapter is insane, leaving me feel the hopelessness of the world Denji and the citizens occupy as well as many other emotions. 10/10

Art: I'll make this quick. The art in terms of quality is an 8. beautiful, but I've seen many better. But the way the art compliments the story and how strategically its used is masterful, which is why I bumped it up to a 9/10.

Character: If this was just from chapters 1-50 I might even give it a 7 but with the rapid progression of the story, there was also a very evident emphasis on character. be it development (which is top tier) their type, or symbology as well as parallels. I give it a 9, but with confidence, I can say that this will be a 10 given more time.

Enjoyment: A bit of interesting category because a lot of the former categories are a reason for this one. But this would be, by far, my highest score if I could go above 10. Just like I mentioned beforehand the emotional impact the story brings is something no other manga/anime has been able to do. Or perhaps not that no others were able to do it, but "Chainsaw Man" has such a unique way of twisting and manipulating your heart and brain that you feel almost drained, thirsting to know more, to digest more of this incredible piece of fiction.

So in all, despite how breathtaking the present is for Chainsaw Man, the future looks even brighter and I can say wholeheartedly that this is one of the best manga ever and given the chance, everyone should read it.

I dropped Chainsaw Man around chapter 25 because I found the plot boring and the characters annoying, and I even wrote a review talking about my frustrations with it. But a few days ago, I kept getting it recommended to me, so I decided to give it another shot, and I'm so glad I did. If you're reading this review, and you dropped Chainsaw Man before or around chapter 40, I strongly encourage you to consider giving it another shot.

I stand by my opinion that the first 40 or so chapters drag on a bit, but after that point, the quality of the series just kept getting better. Characters that I previously found annoying just clicked for me, and the plot got so much more engaging. I enjoyed reading chapters 40-70 much more than I thought I would.

But around chapter 70 was when the series got even better than that, and by quite a bit as well. The series had already shown to be unique (in a very good way) in how it delivered certain story elements, and chapters 71-97 bumped that up to 11. The list of names (if you've read the series you probably know what I'm talking about) was one of the most distinctive and captivating creative decisions I've ever seen in manga, and the snowball fight was also top tier. Another major strength of the final 2 arcs is the characters. In my earlier review, I said that Makima was the one character I actually found interesting, but that the story hadn't done enough with her yet for me to really have an opinion. Without spoilers, the final arc delivers on that in one of the best ways possible.

About the art, it usually isn't much to look at, but when it's good, it's amazing. One example of this is the aforementioned list of names scene.

Overall very solid series and absolutely worth reading despite its slow start. I'm really excited for part 2 and the anime adaptation.
