Dragon Who

Story 1: You know the famous saying don't judge a book by it's cover? Well this is one of those cases; I first thought the cover was pretty decent and expected at least an interesting plot. The story is just awful, the story begins with Roa, the ignorant protagonist who is sent on a mission to 'breed' with the decent of the quetzcoalt so he transform into a Shenlong look alike dragon and flies into the human world. It's OK at first but then you see the failed attempts at creating humor from dragon humans and random addition scenes which were not needed. Later you get introduction to characters that are quite the cliche for the new transfer student as well as the scenario for a new transfer student. The girls all woo over him but then his reputation gets tarnished by perverted accidents caused by his ignorance and then gets shunned by the girls. He makes himself the secret hero who doesn't get any credit for his doing to prevent standing out and being discovered as a dragon race. The story overall is very unimpressive with no flow to as what the big picture is. I'm not sure about others but the attempt at comedy is just horrid; ALL the scenes where you can see obvious desires to create humor is at its worst or at least cheesy.

Art: The art is nothing too special but it is fairly decent. Many of the characters drawn all share similar features that at times make it hard to identify who they are without having their names in dialogues. The art has no seriousness and pretty plain at best; not the most eye catching artwork and backgrounds are effortless.

Character:
Roa: Another cliche ignorant protagonist who has been isolated from modern society and thrown into the city for a mission. The author attempts to show Roa's personality through his ignorance from saving a girl in a burning building despite his disliking of him. There's nothing too special about Roa except what you can expect from someone who gets into trouble and constant misunderstandings from his isolated history.

So, Ahn:
The ditzy girl who is obviously the descendant of the queztcoalt that Roa is looking for. She crosses fires with him and plays the tsundere who is constantly saved by Roa but does not find out he saved him. She has a romantic interest a teacher and simply drools over him and shows no current interest in Roa. Ahn is carefree and clearly not the brightest of the bunch with no 'idol features' you see in common ecchi manwhas.

Enjoyment: I read up to 5 chapters(furthest translated) despite my early dislike for it for a weak and boring plot. I would have stopped after the first few pages but I didn't feel right if I didn't give the series more of a try. I did and I am very disappointed the author didn't realize his characters had no development and his plot becomes more and more obnoxious with each passing page.

Overall: I probably won't continue reading this series and would definitely not recommend this read to anyone, though young readers might enjoy it.

When you see the title 'Dragon Who' I'm sure most people will be reminded of the old school Japanese manga series 'Dragon Ball'. I hope it doesn't make you put on a pair of expectation glasses because this series is quite different.

The cover reflects the ability of the artist well. I gotta say 'WTH' because her(Kim Ju-ri) art style is so different compare to her oldest work 'Sweety' and the her second one ''Cyber Angel'. She seems to be capable of doing various art styles...hmm. Also there are two authors(Ha Yuhn &Jung Jae-Ran) for this series and they are both females too. Interesting, this manhwa is serialized in manhwa/manga magazine targeted for young males.

I like this series, especially the main protagonist, Roa, is an innocent and pure guy. He's smart yet has quite hard to getting used to unfamiliar human world. (I laughed so hard when he was on the bus.) Question... HOW OLD IS HE??? The Grannys are like 400 right?? Anyway His pure focus is on his noble mission that has the world at stake.

So-ahn is a little deviant. She seems to have been raised quite spoiled with 3 big brothers. In the other hand, she's the first human to give Roa a hand when he first arrives to the human world and that's shows some significance between those two. She doesn't think as badly as other girls do about Roa after misunderstandings too(maybe cause she doesn't feel Roa as a guy to her yet lol).

Now, about the noble mission, the manhwa hasn't given us enough information yet due to the fact only 1 volume is out. The 3 Grannys mentions 'that day' can be brought through Roa finding the girl, and the Espana people seems to be against it. (Both forces seems to be trying to protect the world in their own way)

The way this flows is pretty fast, you have to pay attention to absorb all details regarding the conflict between the dragons and Espana. Story seems to be moving fast for now, which I really don't mind.

Story is still unraveling. There are many questions unanswered. I'm definitely going to keep reading this. I just hope it gets an ending instead of getting discontinued. (BUT PLEASE NO DON'T DRAG ON)
