Myaako-sensee review

This is a really underrated little manga, so I thought I'd do a quick and dirty review. Myaako-sensee doesn't really do anything new. All the main characters are kind of tropey, there isn't much of a plot, and the comedy is what you'll find in most comedy slice-of-lives.

BUT THAT'S WHAT'S GREAT ABOUT IT!

It doesn't diverge much from the Kirara slice-of-life-4-koma formula, but it also doesn't need to! It's a perfectly good, very funny manga, with pretty good art, strong characters (especially the titular Myaako-sensee, who is precious and easily carries the manga by herself), and a fun theme (when's the last time you read a manga about a school nurse?). It abandons the pretence of reality at times, and especially later in the manga, but it's not trying to be realistic, and the ridiculousness is, well, funny. Not to mention it's well-structured and well-paced (except for the last chapter, which feels a little rushed), unlike many older Kirara manga.

It's a mighty shame no-one's translated it yet. But if you can read Japanese, and are in the mood for a super light and silly school comedy, this one's for you.
