SAI:Taker: Futari no Artemis

SAI: Taker is a classic tale of missed opportunity. But with Im Dal Young as its writer there is little ells to be expected from it.
It started out very strong with an intrestring world and a very intrestring concept to work around in that world (personally the gender swap was great but that is a personal taste) and does keep that the first few chapter. But the sad thing is that it adds up to nothing.
It's a story that really ends before it gets to start because what is there, feels as the world building set up you do so your characters actions and abilities are more explained. And honestly it's sad because if there was done something with this story it could have been great. But it just ends before actually doing ANYTHING.
But lets not gloss over the fact that I had fun reading it, it was fun to the end. But as a wise man once said: "The ending is paramount." And the ending of SAI: Taker sadly ruins it all by ending with just a buildup for nothing real.

I feel like SAI: Taker could've been a good story to read. But it has a couple glaring issues that makes it obvious as to why it doesn't have the recognition it could've.

1. While the first chapter or two looks promising and fun to read. You realize that it's gonna be a typical story of being X getting these powers and what not happens.

2. The story misses a chance of having something interesting happen by not having the MC go and visit his previous school he went to. This is something that is fun and interesting. The MC now has a new body and also has these powers that anyone who has them is looked at like a hero. This would've been fun to see the MC interacting with his old friends.

3. The story is not good at all with setting up the world that the story takes place. We never get a handle on what powers these people have or why they are so strong. All we know is that they are more powerful than regular humans.

4. At the start the story has a couple side stories happening. Such as the MC's guardian being one of the most powerful people in the world, A terrorist group against people with these super powers. The story does have some more.

5. The students at this school have to be in a club. Clubs are the only way to get Life ( Something that is needed for people with powers ) The club president is meant to give the life to the people in the club. Student's in clubs aren't allowed to leave the club on their own free will. They have to get the President's permission. This is not only stupid it also doesn't make sense

6. Most glaring issue. The MC's cousin is the schools student council. When the MC got the new body and these new powers he was put into this school for kids with powers. His cousin said he should join the student council . MC agrees and goes trying to find it. He ends up finding the First Student council. The First Student council isn't the Student council at all. The club is compromised of nothing but the 3 biggest bitches in the school. They also have this nice and shy girl that has no real reason for being in the club. The MC gets tricked into joining. Through some dumb events the President of the club thinks he is a boy ( Remember the MC now has the body of a female) They pin the MC down and start sexually assaulting the MC. They even knock her out. MC gets up after they conclude that the MC is a girl and runs off from being what could be called as rape. This could have been interesting having the MC break down from this. Have the MC have this new resentment from the club and just be not ok. But not even a couple pages later the MC has forgotten it because on the club members said the the President is throwing a welcome party or something dumb. MC is obviously not wanting to go after just being assaulted by these people. But because of "LOGIC" the MC remember his guardian said try not to cause trouble. So the MC takes this advice and thinks that it will be less trouble to go visit these people who assaulted her instead of saying no and going and telling the school on these people for again " Sexually assaulting her" This leads to the second biggest issue in the story and that is the student council finding out that She is a boy and other bs

7. So yes this awful club finds out her secret that she needs to be in her female body or else she will die. What do they do with this information ? Well what else besides Blackmailing her !! The story should have been the MC trying to keep this a secret and the MC dealing with all the stuff being a female is.

8. The MC's first school day isn't even all that special. No one is interested in her being a transfer student or even her being one of the best looking girls in school. This could've been interesting to see.


9. Back to the First Student Council. All throughout the story they are not seen doing even one nice thing. They are constantly being a Bitch and they get no repercussions for doing this awful stuff. They are even willing to let the MC die because why not ?

10. The story should've been the MC in the actual Student Council club and being with her cousin. Also have that shy girl that i mentioned in the FSC be in the actual Student Council. I kind of like her and the MC together. I kind of ship them.


Overall this could've been really fun and a good story but it has too many problems. The art though is really nice.
