Резюме
Okama is a man who has some problems. First off, his name means 'gay' in Japanese. Next, he has the hots for himself dressed as a girl. Finally, he ends up working at a transvestite bar where he has befriended a girl named Miki. This is not an easy matter to solve, because she only knows him as his female counterpart named Catherine. So how is a guy dressed as a girl supposed to come out to a girl as a heterosexual male? To make matters worse, she has a boyfriend who is trying everything in the book to get with her. Enter the exciting world of Okama Hakusho where love comes in many different flavors!

Okama Hakusho review
There are serious issues with Okama Report. Its exterior is kind of generic and predictable. The jokes aren't really all that funny. The art isn't particularly good or interesting.
What's good about Okama Report is the protagonist and the themes the manga explores. I can easily see someone being frustrated or bored with the cliche back and forth of misunderstanding, slapstick, and repeated jokes, but really, this manga does something special. The ups and downs of the protagonists psyche and outlook and the overall progression is really something. For what I would call a lazy comedy manga there's a lot of depth to its main cast. I'd suggest you try it out. A gender-bender which explores narcissism, the nuances of sexuality, general bigotry & homophobia, and more. |
