Cherry Boy, That Girl

I honestly love this series. It has flaws of course, but I think it has more to offer than some of the generic romance series, as this series isn't completely focused on romance. On the contrary, it has quite little romance. Which is actually one of my complaints. The main character Strawberry, I would've loved to see her with her signifgant other more. I like seeing happy moments couples have in mangas so that was a bit of a let down.
Beyond that, it was pretty amazing how often this series made me flip-flop and switch my opinion on it's characters. Like every single one of them. They were a lot more complex upon first impressions, which is kinda rare. I also love the art style! It's even super adorable when the drawings are more simplistic ones, like chibis. I'm trying not to spoil anything, so in conclusion I really enjoyed this manga. Walnut Kang is for sure my favourite character, I wish he got a bit more time being the focus. It's a shame to me that even Pear got more time than Wally seemed to get. I feel like he should've gotten a bit more screentime.

So in conclusion:
Adorable and expressive artwork, surprisingly complex characters, interesting story, made me really feel for the characters (which is rare for me) and I also love how the characters names are all fruits, nuts, things like that. I totally recommend this series. Even if the ending is a bit of a letdown. It sufficed I guess.

Okay, so the excerpt talks about how the main character, Strawberry is one of the few girls in a male-dominated school. Then the story goes on to follow the story of a toxic relationship and how their history affects their future relationships.

The Good
It's mixed with comedy and pretty good romance encounters (interesting with plot twists). The art is pleasing, easy to understand with good details and the artist can draw the expressions of the characters. The characters themselves are also really great! There are some good backstories and interesting personalities.

The Bad
The major problem was the story. It had so much opportunity to become great but there were parts where it felt vague, unexplained, or wasn't "complete." Consistently throughout the story, many problems were just piled on top of each other rather than being resolved. The characters as well, although they were awesome, the storytelling of the characters was just... disappointing. There was no real resolution to these characters. I would've liked this to be longer so that it could have the properly told story it needs.

Do not be fooled by the supposedly cliché romance story it seems to offer at a first glance! It could not be further from the truth as it uses those oh-so-familiar tropes to crack down on human relationships and their ugly side at a much deeper level with romance at its core.

The story is all character-driven with the main cast slowly coming together and affecting each other more and more. It starts on a light note with 2 main characters having a lovers’ squabble and even though it seems this is headed at a romcom with drama here and there way, it brings up an uglier truth when the events unfold to show us that this is not the usual shoujo-perfect relationship, but a truly dysfunctional one and that is not ok to just accept that. Action brings reaction and everyone has a role to play and things to figure out about themselves and the rest. It gets to the point that the reader might not be sure who to support for a long while, but it is a relatable story because of its psychological aspect even if the premise seems to imply the opposite, since the main point is how much you care about others and how much of that caring is self-gratification.

All surprisingly, the characters have considerable development and background, turning some first impressions upside down as they are ever-changing. Truth be told, the main focus is given to Darin and Berry, the 2 main characters, but the different facets of their personality through all of their meeting until the ending is more than enough to paint a good portrait of themselves, their relationship and what should the boundaries be for a healthy human relationship. Various characters get involved one way or another and add more to the story through their interactions, having their own reasons and point of view. While there are exaggerations and it gets maybe too much towards the end, the goal of this series is still achieved and you feel for most of them.

The art seems silly at first, but the more you read the more you get used to it and the more the characters change, their expressions change even more, as well as their demeanor. There are various changes in their appearance with the passage of time, such as someone getting slimmer or hair growing out and it really feels that time goes by. There not too many details, but it uses vibrant colors making each character distinct, even when the cast is not that big either way to confuse them. Apart from the colors, there are not many other things to remember, but in the end, everything is fitting and pleasing to the eye. My only real problem is how much I disliked Berry’s first haircut, but you get used to it!

Although there are many positive things to be said about this work, especially since it managed to twist its premise and go for something that not many touch and did it with flair even, it does not feel as wholesome as it could have been. Some things could have been handled better with more sense, but they added to the drama so they were done sloppily, but all in all, it served its purpose well enough to recommend it without reservation!

I really loved this manga around the beginning to the middle, the art was decent and some parts of the story were exciting and well written.
However, here is when the problem starts. I am confident that the author of this webtoon didn't plan the story out, I am pretty sure the author did not know what they wanted to convey in some parts. As result parts of this story were boring and changed some characters to the point where it does not make any sense. It's really a pity since I loved this webcomic, it was unique in many aspects and fun.
The webcomic just took a turn for the worst, turning bitter, changing a few characters, and creating shallow relationships between characters. Walnut and Strawberrie's relationship was very shallow, unimaginative, and cliche that it was a chore to read. For this type of story it's really the characters that drive the story, but later on they become so unlikeable and unrealistic that I couldn't care less about what happens to them. I'm fine and even like how and why characters can become even more scarred throughout a story, but this story did not do it well. Characters often do not communicate like real people about the problems they are facing, creating more misunderstandings that sure, it's easier it write but can get annoying.

This webcomic was promising, the protagonist was not a really nice person, she was actually quite bratty and materialistic which was different from many manga and refreshing. I was hoping that she would change a bit for the better, or at the least to grow some sort of goal. But nope. She didn't change much. Not that that is inheritly wrong but it leaves me very unsatisfied.
Overall a mediocre webcomic, I would not recommend it. The beginning is good but it will go downhill.

Okay, so I'm gonna speak short and positively about this manhwa. Because it's a lot of fun to read ... and it's one of those things where you just ignore the flaws because it's so enjoyable. Be warned; you'll hardly get any solid info about the plot, but a very detailed outline of why this manhwa is interesting.

Firstly, this manhwa is funny. Rest assured. Now on to the main part; the characters are interestingly laid out. I won't say too much because it'll spoil the story, but never judge the character's behaviour from the start. Trust me, not everything is as it seems. At the beginning I though that the heroine was behaving in a totally jerky way, and that the reason behind the behaviour of all the characters were pretty shallow - but wait. It gets interesting, and you find that there are totally valid reasons behind what's going on. Fear not if you totally don't get why the hell the characters are behaving as they do - this manhwa slowly draws you in to a much more complex story line.

Oh yes - there are cute guys. Very. Whilst I personally love Mandarin (the names (!) - read and you'll find out the adorability/weirdness that is the naming scheme) and find him irresistable, this manhwa will have me and you guessing who the heck she's ending up with. Because the rival is amazingly well developed, and his relationship with the heroine is at an adorable level.

To be honest, this review is ... more like a promotional teaser, and yes, totally go and give it a shot. What I'm trying to say here in summary, is that this manhwa starts off at something pretty confusing, but for those of us who keep on going, it develops into something much more, specifically with a lot of suspense as you'll want to know the reasons why the characters behave so. It's certainly made me eager for the next chapter.

"You don't know what you got until it's gone" is what this manhwa about. Some people may find the first few chapters annoying because of the female lead - I usually drop these kind of stories as well. But this manhwa is just too intriguing and entertaining to the point that I almost don't want to stop reading. It's really unique.


Story: 8/10
The story is about Darin and Berry - lovers who actually really liked each other, but due to some circumstances, misunderstanding, lack of honesty and trust - they ended up in an unhealthy relationship.
The author did a good job in showing how some people got into an unhealthy/abusive relationship, what it's like to be in one, how it messes them up, what happens to the "Victim" after the relationship ended and how the abused person is also at fault for letting the abuser abused her/him.
This manhwa can be consider as "Psychological and dark" but the author managed to make it light and funny at the same time. However, I am a bit disappointed on how the author turned the story into something different and focused more on Berry and Wally's relationship with that super cliche "rich guy" plot.

Art: 9/10
The art is really nice and so refreshing to look at, there are not too many unnecessary things included and the characters look really good.

Characters: 9/10
Berry: She was super annoying at first, praised seeker,narcissist and argh she's just so annoying. However as the series continue, you will know how and why Berry turned into something like that and how she changed so much after being in a relationship with Darin.

Darin: He is the most intriguing character in this manhwa and the "prettiest" character in this series. The reason why I kept on reading this manhwa despite of how annoying Berry was, is because I wanted to know more about Berry and Darin's past about 'What happened to them and what Darin did to make Berry changed like that. It's just disappointing that the author put Darin aside after focusing on Berry and Wally. The author could've explore more about Darin's character and he's character development.

Overall: 8/10
Despite it's flaws and how the story change into something else, it's still one of the most exciting series I've read.

I was expecting a fruity romcom, given the names.

Although the story seemed a bit messy, the characters change were pretty inline and developmental. I really liked where the story was going that it can make my heart flutter with joy & excitement and that how some of the characters were portrayed and affected.

The art is pretty good with a nice taste in colors.

This webtoon was pretty enjoyable that it's moves you to cheer on the characters or despise them greatly. No regrets, it had a satisfactory ending. Let's just ignore the fact that some characters who seemed important weren't really utilized. Although it had me thinking that the significant change near the end isn't possible in reality.

I think this the manhua/manga that got me the most awkward ever.

I'd say decent, the male school with only a few males isn't really new. The ex boyfriend interactions were really bad. There's a lot you can dot an an author with an ex, for example : the ex that knows the girl better, flashbacks, etc... but NONE, just your average pitiful stalker.

Well that was good, even tho I wasn't a big fan of the chara-designs.

Well here's a new weak point. The characters often contradict themselves, have no deep at all, and you just wonder why some of them are even introduced in the story. Some of them are so cliché, like the rich guy and so on. Much of them are really despicable.

Guess this is personal, but I was still rooting for the ex, so well I didn't get the least of enjoyment.

It could have been so much better, and way more short. I'm really deceived by it, because I saw it in the recommendations of "cheese in the trap", but bullshit it's clearly not the same.

I base this review solely on my levels of enjoyment, entertainment and feelings, so if you'd rather see a more formal review, it's not mine.

I got recommended this from a friend, him saying that it's really interesting and doesn't get boring, and he was right! I usually drop series left and right and don't give it a second thought, but I actually binged through this series.

The story gets kind of crazy and dramatic, and sometimes doesn't make sense. For example, the toxic relationships in this weren't portrayed that well(?) I've been in some, both relationship and friendship, and it wasn't very accurate. Without spoiling, I had a lot of thoughts of, 'Why didn't Berry.." or "Why did Darin..." and especially, "Why did Cherry..?!" throughout reading. Other than that, I felt that some relationships were unnecessary, but that's me personally. The end wasn't too crazy, which I'm grateful for or I would've gotten a heart attack. Sorry if this review is wack, oops.
