Shingeki no Kyojin review
I had previously watched the anime because my nephew got me into it, but I never finished season 1. Generally, I base what source of a series I'm going to watch depending on the higher ratings of either the manga or anime. Seeing that the ratings for the manga were higher than it's adaptation, I tested my luck reading this series alternatively.

The characters: they all have diverse personalities, styles and viewpoints, topics I find essential in characters. For now, I'll be focusing on the main characters. Eren Yeager, he's a caring and stubborn boy who dreams of eliminating all of the Titans and protecting humanity. Still, we've heard something like this before, so I personally don't think, as of reading around the start, that he deserves the best and original protagonist award any time soon. Mikasa Ackerman, a young girl who's often serious but caring. She's probably the best addition to the series, so if you're not watching for the other characters: watch it for her. And finally, Armin Arlert, sometimes bothersome, can be over emotional, but he's certainly the most human. Armin has true regards for his friends and humanity and is not afraid to display it through plenty of tears.

The story: The story is unique and, at least to me, impressive. There's a lot of mystery to the plot: where the Titans came from, what's in the basement? (read to find out), where's the rest of humanity? All of these questions I pray are answered throughout, to give the manga a good story, anyway, and not deliberately establish that it's an 'overrated' series.

The art: old looking (not too old) but works for the series. Isayama, Hajime's passion for making every page and panel look dark and gritty has worked out - from what I can see, at least. The character's serious, terrified and determined expressions have to be the most important and sincere elements of Hajime's compositions.

Shingeki no Kyojin review
Ahh, where do i begin? This mana was something I decided reading after finishing the anime, which i can say was a great experience. So without further ado, let's make it as simple as possible without giving too many spoilers.

Story: 9
Yes, we all know the cliche story of humanity in peril and the giant monsters that are responsible for it. However, there are little manga's that are actually sticking to the fact that humanity still dod not defeat those monsters. True, the show did give us the "Hero that has a power that came from those monsters to kill them". But they are doing it good and most important of all they have the balls to actually kill main characters at ANY moment. i won't tell you when, but let's say that the show is one of the only i am current;y reading that still have the guts to kill the main hero/es at any moment without any warning or any way to "fix it at the last moment due to 'plot device'".

Characters: 9
In my opinion the strongest part of the manga. The characters in the show are extremely complicated. For those of you who's read the "Clash of the Titans" arc, you probably know whose the main villain of the arc and while their motives are still unclear to us, we know that they didn't do that out of simple villainy. They do feel remorse. And they are not so easy to hate even after revealing their true nature. They did it because they had to. That revelation made it cleat to me that moral in the show is not something as simple as good and bad. The sense of morality in the show is even become more unbalanced in the following arc, I won't tell you what happens but ill tell you this, that arc gave us new information that made it clear that no character in the show that is purely good, or at least not in the eyes of all characters, and the plot forces them to do things that shake the reality they are used to like it was nothing. in my opinion every main character, and some of the side characters, are extremely important to feel the show moving and they are doing a great job of making you wonder which side truly is right and which is wrong.

Art: 8

While it isn't on berserk level, the art in this show is still something i enjoy very much, except when you look at the difference between the anime design and the manga design, but all in all the art is really nice, with some shots looking really amazing and some making you really feel like you can just see anything there, plus the titans are amazingly drawn, each in a different way, making you see that there are no two titans that look the same.

Enjoyment: 8
The only reason i don't place it on a higher rank is the simple fact tat every chapter comes only once per month, making it hard to keep the hype between every chapter and trying to remember what happened last time. however, that manga and the plot are too good for me to just let this make the better judgement for me. The show it great and the manga is even better, even if the anime added one part for the managa that wasn't there (see episode 25 of the anime and manga chapter 34 for the difference). But all in all i really enjoyed the show thus far and Im sure Im going to keep enjoying it.

Overall rating: 9
This manga is one of the best manga's out there at the time, it is bold, courageous and doesn't afraid to kill any character at any moment and give plenty of development and explanations that keep everything clear or making you question the morality of the manga at any moment. It is these features that made me like this manga so much and i know that those if you whose looking for good manga (even if released slowly), this is the manga for you.

I hope you enjoyed or found this review helpful and please don't fear to send me your thoughts or responses and ill answer them as good as I can.

Shingeki no Kyojin review
I quickly drawned into this story several moments after the chibi collosal titan posted by people on my facebook news feeds. Along with it, I also notice some characters in certain uniform which later I notice as scout legion uniform, in chibi styles. The unique in it quickly gain fans attention, and it's not usual that I was interested to find out more about it.

When first I read the manga, I can enjoy the art, although it's a mess, but I can gasp the expressions of each characters. More than that, the story itself is more than enough reason for me to notice another masterpiece by japanese writer. Who cares with arts if you got a great story to tell? Though I got sick already with well drawn manga but have sucks story.

I quickly become a fan and as I read furthermore, reading the mangaka's interviews, I learned how he treat the characters equally. It's a very plus point for this manga because it seems like the mangaka have great understanding of people's personalities. Another thing that is great about this, is the fight scenes. It looks great because the mangaka understand martial art.

No story is perfect, and because I really like the story, I wrote rant on tumblr about how stupid Erwin Smith leads his men to sacrifice the troops and all, how uneffective 3DMG is (because it's melee weapon, used to fight overly powerful enemy, which is a big mistake in war strategy), I still have reasons to not drop the manga. Funny thing is, all of my rants and questions on the tumblr articles are answered one by one as I made progress on reading the story.

Shingeki no Kyojin is a masterpiece, although it's art is not beautiful, but everything describe very well in it.

Rate : "Manga you should read before you die"

Shingeki no Kyojin review
after chapter 138, we are now finally surethat history is being made right in front of our eyes. though the ending will be very critical, i have no doubts that it will be dissappointing.

everything we have seen from the first chapter had lead to this point. everything is getting to a satisfyingly unsatisfying conclusion. i feel terribly sorry for the gatekeepers that wont even give snk a chance because it is very popular. this was a wild experience, one that im not ready for it to end. as a newbie in both the anime and manga community, its not hard to tell that snk stands out the most with, well, everything. how can you not like it?

Story: 10

at first, attack on titan is a stereotypical shounen. young kid saves the world, young kid prodigy or something. except its not. it doesnt take too long for the story to revert from a classic shounen to an exceptional shounen to an incredible mind game. its twists take you unguarded, fills you with all sorts of emotions. you get to see everyone grow into the story, adapt themselves to the world they are in. you see progress, evolution. everything you see from the first chapter, every little detail that didnt make sense comes back when youre most not ready. the story was crafted so carefully and neatly. now looking back, the story feels like a lifetime journey. one that im sure that will be stuck with me for so long.

Art: 9

i like the style and im tired of pretending like i dont. though people find isayama's style offputting or wonky (and i can see it within the first chapters), the action scenes are so well drawn. the style in the first chapters was definitely weird in its almost unique way, but i can not dismiss the progress we have witnessed. if it werent for its sometimes confusing, sketch style panels that make you feel like you're missing something all the time, i would even give it a solid 10 not gonna lie but i couldnt get out of the panels and had to slow down at times.

Character: 10

of course it is. when i think about snk now, i can only remember how perfectly written the characters are. not the action scenes, not the plot, the characters. we are welcomed with such real characters. despite the first parts being disguised as a classic shounen, every "good" character has weaknesses, their breaking points, their small characteristic details. every character you meet (and well, survive through the first arc) comes back with a full story and development. every side character comes to spotlight as some of the most crucial points in the story. everyone feels so... real. even the comedic relief characters have their own unique story. i feel like a big part of snk relies on this exact thing. you see these characters that feel so real and almost relatable put in such teribble places and being forced to make such agonising choices that you feel the same pain, confusion, anger with them. so much that you cant help but love everyone you should hate.

Enjoyement: 10

the story flows so well, i dont think there is much to say after kissing its ass so much honestly lol. being an anime only first and then a manga reader, i was scared that the action scenes or explanations would be hard to keep up with or that it just wouldnt give me just as much joy and excitement but to my disappointment, everything worked out perfectly.

Overall: 10

not just as an anime, not just as a manga, attack on titan will make history as one of the greatest stories told, and im so happy that im going to see it happen. read it, make others read it.

Shingeki no Kyojin review
The best manga that I have ever read. If you're looking for something with deep, intricate lore, then this is it. You have found the manga. I'll keep this review spoiler-free as to not ruin the many surprises you'll encounter throughout the series. TL;DR at the end, and the review as easy to follow as I can.

The Story (10/10)

The story of Attack on Titan takes place in a time where large humanoid creatures called "Titans", which resemble humans, but are 5, 10, and 15 metres tall, the remaining population of humans was forced inside 3 50-metre-tall walls: Wall Maria, Wall Rose and Wall Shina being the most inner wall. Their just want to eat humans,
having no intelligence whatsoever.
Our main protagonist is Eren Jeager, alongside Mikasa and Armin, quickly learn of the terror of the titans after a 60 metre tall titan appears and smashes the main gate protecting humanity from titans. From that day onwards, Eren swears he will do anything and everything to stop the titans, and to go beyond the walls.

The story may sound boring and basic, but as the plot progresses, there are many, many interesting things happening. Isayama creates different situations for his characters, and sees how they interact with eachother. The plot is very story and lore rich, with many secrets hidden, and foreshadowings, which are more appreciated when you read the manga after you have finished it entirely.

The Art (10/10)

The art at first may seem a bit more cartoonish, more "water-colour-y" if you get me. But as the series progresses and the themes of it change, so does the art style, and also considering this manga was started in 2009 and will end in less than a month on 9th of April, 2021, Isayama's art style has clearly evolved from something good at best, to amazing and may I say a masterpiece level, since this is supposed to reflect my point of view.

The Characters (10/10)

The characters start a bit basic, we are introduced to them, their personalities and their views and ideas, and as the show progresses, they evolve with the plot, changing sometimes for the best and sometimes for the worst. Attack on Titan is the only manga where I truly loved and still love the characters. I like more characters in Attack on Titan than I do in any 2 other random series combined. They are well-thought out and fleshed to feel like real humans, with flaws, moments of humour and horror, depression and happiness.

Enjoyment (10/10)

As you could have probably guessed, this series truly made me feel bad for characters, wonder what is going to happen and always want to read "just one more chapter" before going to bed. It's one of the most brilliant surprises I have had in my life. I went into this expecting just killing titans and cool ODM scenes, and whilst there is plenty of that, this manga is so much more that it is hard to explain without spoiling you. This plot is amazing. I want you to feel the same way I felt when I read the second to last chapter, that.. feeling that the series' end is right around the corner and wondering what is going to happen... because that feeling is the best feeling. And I feel like these emotions are present pretty much everywhere. You'll enjoy this series, either you're into big, story-rich plots or just fun-action scenes with interesting characters, it has everything.

TL;DR
Overall, Attack on Titan is a great series, with wayyy more to with than you would expect, and a story and lore so rich you would want to read it again for the first time just to feel those emotions again. With art that gets progressively better from "good enough" to "masterpiece" and interesting characters, and an enjoyment beyond anything out there. This truly does feel like that 1 in a billion manga series where everything just clicks and so well thought out. Well, of course it would be, considering Isayama worked on the whole plot 6 months before even drawing anything for the manga (yes, it's that deep and rich).

Truly a masterpiece and my best read ever. 10/10

Shingeki no Kyojin review
Singeki no Kyojin (SNK) AKA Attack on Titan's main appeal is its unsettling imagery, gore, and its insane plot twists. The twists and turns in the plot are what strap viewers into bingeing the roller coaster that is this series.

Story: 9, The story is, like I said, full of wild twists and turns. The anime starts by setting a really dreary tone about the harsh reality the characters face living in the fear and shadow of the titans, but, without spoiling too much, uses this pessimism to create one of the hypest plot twists I have ever experienced. Only one of these plot twists falls a bit on its face, but its at the beginning. There is a bit of an odd, convoluted overall mythology in the series that doesn't make a whole lot of sense at times, but its been getting clearer as the series goes on.

Art: 7, One of the reasons why author Isayama-sensei had such trouble getting SNK getting published in the first place is that his art style, although certainly passable, is not too great. The line work has quite a sketchy feel, which sometimes can add to the unsettling atmosphere of the story, but most of the time it can feel, for lack of a better word, sloppy. However, Isayama-sensei renders the faces and forms of the titans extremely well, and his style gives them an extremely unsettling air; it is with his human chacters, with whom we spend the most time, that get shorted because of the somewhat sketchy art.

Character: 10, SNK has an amazing cast of character. They're quite diverse and from all walks of life, varying in gender, sexuality, and background. SNK has a good amount strong female characters and there is almost no fan-service, which I personally enjoy. Isayama-sensei has said on twitter than he will not be confirming the sexuality of any characters, but there are a handful of LGBT characters nonetheless.

Enjoyment: 10, SNK gets you hype. Its characters, pacing (though a little wonky at times), and plot twists all contribute to make reading SNK a great experience. However, just to note, one critisim of the manga is that it can feel like 'imperialist propaganda'-- and to be honest, I don't really know what that means, but if you want to avoid things overly political, I think it's important for me to share. I still give it a 10 for enjoyment though.

Shingeki no Kyojin review
All complaints aside, I don't think many mangas can match Shingeki no Kyojin's titanic entertainment value :D

Initially, I thought some of the major plot twists were downright silly. I'm trying not to spoil, so I'll just say that I remember thinking stuff like 'Wut? No one bothered to check what the wall was made of? For a 100 years?' or counting on my fingertips thinking 'Ok, so thats nearly half of his friends who're...wow'. I thought about it however, and now I think that without those twists, the story would have been pretty boring and linear. I really love how everything is linked in this manga; nothing is without purpose. I suppose some would say it narrows the world down (as thats what I used to think), but I think it works great for manga.

The artwork really sells this manga in my opinion. The heavy emphasis of the blacks and shadows really suits the survival theme, and the titans are truly the scariest manga antagonists ever! What's really terrifying about the way the titans are drawn is that, their faces are so realistic, I can actually say I've seen people that look like them!

The characters are a bit mediocre, and there are so many characters without any unique qualities that are overshadowed by the main character's outstanding abilities. However, the manga isn't devoid of character development, and when it happens, it's in relevance to the story (linking to what I've said above) so there's the pro of not having to read unnecessary backstory.

It ain't perfect, but I think this manga trades the mere possibility of becoming a masterpiece in exchange for pure enjoyment. I think that's great :D

Shingeki no Kyojin review
The fan base definitely over hype the manga, but many good things are enjoyable.

Story: 7
It started interesting with the main Character Eren trying to Kill all Titans to take revenge for his family's death, in the process he discovers he can turn into a Titan. Throughout the story, we discovered that there are as many as 9 shifters (shifters being people who can turn into Titans). After a time-skip many secrets behind the titans are revel.

now I like how the story proceeds until the time skip point, from that point on the story, goes downhill and I'm sure the author has a good reason to makes those changes but they were not appealing to me. And there are a few asspull that you don't see coming.

Art 10
The art was outstanding, very different and unique. It is very sketchy looking but the images have a great amount of detail. It captures the action of the characters very good, it doesn't feel stiff. Overall, I think the art style of Shingeki no Kyojin is suitable for the story to come to life.

Character 9

There are a few characters well written but the main character is not one, secondary Characters have a better reason to be part of the story and others just feel dry.

Enjoyment 8

while some chapters are interesting and make you want to read more, others are plain boring and confusing, its very hard to get into it at first because of the first volume it's just information and backstory but once the action scenes hit its very hooking.

overall 8

I feel like the story is overly hyped because there are better Plots in other Manga, but it's still very enjoyable and addictive.

Shingeki no Kyojin review
Attack on Titan was the biggest, most popular anime of 2013 by far, and Shingeki no Kyojin was also huge, reaching second place in manga sales in Japan for 2013 and defeating One Piece's five year reign as most popular manga in sales in 2014. Naturally the question comes, how good could it be?

STORY- 8/10
While the manga suffers from even more pacing issues than the anime did in the first half, the overall storyline is decent, even with some characters dying that you don't care about. While the story does deviate from Titans for a certain period, it does so for an understandable reason, even if it gets kind of boring in some of the dialogue scenes.

Didn't like how Eren and the gang went from seeing their hometown get screwed over as kids in Chapter 2 to having to participate in the largest scale battle in the series so far two chapters later. The pacing does get better later on as Eren gets introduced to the Survey Corpsmen and they go off on their expeditions.

ART- 7/10
SnK's art reminds me of rough pencil sketches, and are pretty crudely drawn. That might put some people down but can also help a reader see the dark aspects of the story with the bleak faces on the characters. Could've been better, like in Levi's side story No Regrets, but still readable and enjoyable. Scenes with the 3DMG in use were pretty cool though.

CHARACTER- 8/10
So...the three main characters are okay, but not great, apart from maybe Armin. Eren the badass main who seeks to kill all the Titans, Mikasa the even more badass female lead who seeks only to protect Eren, and Armin the crybaby who is secretly a brilliant strategist and actually does stuff. The side characters are many and aren't very well known at first, but are eventually unraveled to have their own motives for joining the military.

While there were problems with the characters in the anime, as many weren't fully developed by the time Season 1 ended, the manga sufficiently solves those problems by fully developing a good portion of the cast that was neglected during the first season and even gives some of the more generic characters (Mikasa and Levi for example) some more character depth. Still some deaths of minor characters we don't care about, but still better than what Season 1 of the anime could do. The introductions of the characters weren't that great and I had to do some reading before I could fully understand them.

ENJOYMENT- 8/10
Being a fan of the anime, it was only natural that I would come to like the manga too. Seeing how the characters develop and the twists in the plot. Action sequences were nice, we learn more about the world of the Titans and some of their motives behind the actions.

OVERALL- 8/10
While there are still some problems in the story, along with some plot gaps and confusing scenes, the manga is still a very good series to read and one of the better ones out there, even with its pacing issues and such. Would recommend to people who are fans of dark action/post-apocalyptic and the casual reader. Not recommended to those who enjoy extremely well-thought out storylines with anti-heroes that have struggles with their humanity and such, and have extremely high expectations in manga.

Shingeki no Kyojin review
Story: 10
At first you could imagine the story is pretty generic, wow Eren is going to be super broken and eventually save the world, get a girl blah blah. Sure it looks like that in the beginning, but no it builds on and on as it progresses. However, I can understand why this isn't just some overrated manga, I find myself enjoying it more and more, seeing all the conflict and how it all unfolds and connect with each other really well. I thought the story was getting a bit stale around chapter 90, but nope I was wrong. While it did take until 100 or so to get more into the action, I could see why it was worth using up all that time to slowly build up background information. Now, everything is starting to slowly tie in together, there is so much hype and you just want the months to fly bye so you can just read through all the chapters and enjoy it. Do note that the story at times can take pretty long to get into the action and such, so it may be pretty boring from time to time reading.

Art: 7
I wouldn't say the art is necessarily the best at the start, but it does improve as the story progresses and the general style is still kept. The art isn't something Violet Evergarden level of course, but you can deal with it, it's good enough and doesn't confuse anyone at all.

Character: 9
TEN FOR SURE. At first, I thought I'm with the main characters all the way, but nope. Even for some of the baddies, I'm feeling bad for them and what they have to do, they're perfectly sculpted and fit well in to the story. Yes there are some unneeded characters + some character development does take awfully long, but it is still something I consider definitely worth a 10. The thing I dislike is probably that it definitely takes a while to get to the side characters. Some of them we barely learn about them while they're pretty important, so it's a shame. That is why I decided with a 9/10.

Enjoyment: 9
The only things bringing it down to 9 are basically the flaws of what I've mentioned, some things aren't described properly, some pretty major characters are not really expanded upon. While it is good for me to be creative and imagine, there were moments where I was left confused, especially at places where everything just started to pour in.

Overall, a really enjoyable manga if you have the commitment, but I'd recommend waiting for the end or near the end to read through it. It's a huge pain waiting each month, often killing my hype and adding on to the confusion or sense of something lacking in the manga. Regardless, it is still an awesome manga which isn't just some human vs big titan action, it has so much more merit to it than just that. The story drags you further into the action and it's really great.
