Pandora Hearts review

Okay, so this is my first review so it will suck... Haha, I hope not.

First off, Pandora Hearts is my favorite manga of all time. And please beware of some subtle spoilers in this review, I'll try not to spoil big things though.

Pandora Hearts is in the era of Victorian London, now don't let this bring you down! It barely has the 'Victorian London History' bringing it down! Or, instead of 'barely' it doesn't at all. This is in no way a historical manga.

There is only really one historical thing in this manga, and it was made up for the story.

The tragedy of Sablier, where Sablier was pulled into the abyss.

Now, what is the abyss? The abyss is- In short- a messed up toy box. Okay, I'm sorry, that wasn't funny. The abyss is basically a place where 'Chains' reside in. Chains... As in Demons basically.

It starts off with Oz's coming of age ceremony, now with a twist. His most loyal friend and servant Gilbert betrays him! Stabbed him! And-

Hold our horses! Gilbert wasn't really in his right mind master Oz!

Oz gets dragged into the abyss and wakes up, seeing floating toy boxes, dolls, and other creepy stuff floating around. He's walking on a floor which is basically made of water... Which is completely normal!

Oz is the first to get out of the abyss alive and on his own, unfortunately becoming an Illegal contractor in the process. Making a contract with the chain the B-Rabbit. Which stands for, the Bloody Black Rabbit.

Now, small spoiler here. The B-Rabbit isn't actually the... B-Rabbit.

And so you are now in a manga full of Twists and pulling-your-hair-out-opps-I-need-a-brush moments. (Does that even make sense?)

Story/Plot: Okay, so... This is one of the most complicated parts of the manga. It's all over the place. Not in a bad way, but in a way where you don't really know the exact goal of the manga. But it's extremely clear AS you are reading... I WOULD tell you but it would be a major spoiler so... The plot/story starts off pretty easy, dragged into the abyss and became an illegal contractor... Oh! Oz's contracted chain is named Alice! Like Alice in Wonderland? Yes! Like Alice in Wonderland! This story is like an extremely twisted version of Alice in Wonderland... Though it basically has almost nothing to do with the plot of Alice in Wonderland... It just gives you the feels that it's similar. I cried many times during this manga.

Now, they need to find Alice's lost memories. Oh yay, this lasts for only 2-3 chapters (I'm joking.) Now there is a different plot.

As more things get revealed, the plot thickens and depends until all you have left are character guesses and emotions.

Characters: Okay, this is the strongest point for this manga. All the character's here are extremely unique, all with their each styles of art and dressing.

We have Oz, our main character who has one of the most complicated personalities in manga history. First, we have his occasional romantic-flirtanious side, then we have his happy-go-lucky side... Then there is his scary side. The one where he will kill anyone to get what he wants-- What am I saying, he's adorable! And quite innocent. Who knew that--

Next, we have Alice. The not-very-tsundere-like-tsundere. First she has this little 'Man servant' thing going on for Oz.

"Oz! You're my manservant! Get me my meat!"

"Haha~ Okay Alice, here's your meat."

But if there is something Oz doesn't want to do, he won't do it. (For more serious matters).

Then, we have cute innocent Gilbert. He puts up a tough act of wearing all black and takes a gun with him everywhere, while smoking. A habit Break got him into. But really, inside is a little innocent boy with a phobia of cats and can't stand to see his master- Oz- hurt.

Then we have the creepy 'clown', Break. Who has a (alive) doll named Emily riding on his shoulder at all times. Now, here is where things turn a little cold. He is extremely mysterious and somewhat cold hearted. Hiding his true thoughts under the facade of playfulness. Who will come out from under your bed to say good morning to you and go back into Narnia or somewhere through a cabinet in your room. Wonderful.

In actuality, he is the least suspicious and creepiest of the whole cast of Pandora Hearts.

Since the whole cast of Pandora Hearts are all two-faced, you really don't know who or what to trust when reading the manga. Even Oz's own thoughts.

In a jumble, this is some twisted cast.

This, all in all gets a 10/10 rating. One of the best masterpieces out there.
