Tate no Yuusha no Nariagari review

To start off, i would like to say i read all of the Web Novel, rather than the light novel. Thus, that is what my translation is based off of. It's very biased, and it feels more like a bashing rather an actual review. But i do hope people will give it a read anyways.

Story: 3/10
Art: 7/10
Characters: 5/10
Enjoyment: 5/10
Overall: 4.

It was quite the adventure.
It was absolutely horrifying.
I saw a perfectly fine piece of litteratur, a piece that was no masterpiece nor trash, a piece that i enjoyed to my heart's content, i saw a piece like that just go into a decline and devolve from that into literary garbage that i to this day, will stand by and say i would never have read past chapter 1.
Now for the actual review.

First, what did i like?
The twist to the story in it self was that our character was 'Hero of the Shield'. Our character has to rely on his own shrewdness for most of the story, it was very interesting to read about, and as characters were introduced it felt as if the author wrote them with the intent for us to like them and it gave me a heart-warming feeling to read about Naofumi & Raphtalia's adventures.
I haven't felt like this in a long long time, the feeling of genuine enjoyment and worrying for fictional characters, that they find happiness. It was refreshing.
This was the first 1/3rd of the story and i love it to death.

Second, why do i dislike it?
The further we get into the story the more characters are added to the cast. That's fine. The issue with this in itself that, too many characters were added. We get more characters trying to be 'unique' and end up with bland characters and annoying characters that just exhibit traits off of stereotypical character types such as Tsunderes etc. It took a lot from the series, which is a shame. None of the characters were unique or original, but some of them were genuinely enjoyable and it felt like the author really just wanted to write some good characters at that point.

Then there's the story. The further we get in, the more we expand on the story. The issue was that, the author didn't want to end it on an anti-climatic note. But instead, he kept bringing us bigger and bigger events, that were resolved by Deus Ex Machina (look it up). The amount of times it happens later on is ridiculous. What's worse is that, all the information that we gain after those arcs is rendered useless, because the author wants to finish the story fast, so we rush through things.
The final arc was legitimately painful for me to read through.

The story started out simple, yet strong. Easy to follow and enjoyable to read, easy to immerse myself into. As we progressed it became more convoluted and an amalgamation of multiple plots and the worst trait from character stereotypes.
-------------------------
World.
The world in itself was simple
He didn't have to build up too much about it as it was extremely simple to grasp.
The ares our characters visited were made interesting by the nature of the events leading up to them arriving and leaving. Overall i just want to say it was an alright world.
-----------
Plot.
The plot in itself was fine, the more we expanded on it the worse it kind of got. It felt like he didn't know what to write anymore past a certain point. So he decided to, instead of taking a break, take 'inspiration' from other series and just create a shitstorm.
-------
Final score and thoughts:
Score: 4.2/10
----
Would i like it if it turned into an anime? Yes, as i know it wouldn't gain enough popularity for multiple seasons, i'd love a 24 ep season if possible as it would be able to adapt everything i wanted to see.
---
It was an amazing experience at first, but the worse it got the more it hurt me as i genuinely like some of the characters and they didn't get worse.
---
Favourite quote:
I don't remember them too well. But this one i really liked.
“This truly is the Rise of the Shield Hero”
It's very simple, but i liked it. I might re-read the parts i liked in the future.
