Utsuro no Hako to Zero no Maria review
Finally after 2 days, I completed all the 7 volumes..
Honestly it was a blast although the light novel itself can be said to be abnormal because no human in the story is normal and the level of abnormality they perceive is on a different level.

The character development is the most fascinating in the series like how a seemingly abnormally normal guy who doesn't want to his everyday life to get corrupted and loves it the most to a next level becomes someone who sits on piles of million of corpses with a scar in his soul just for a girl.

The story at start seems to normally revolve around a normal justice based fight between different entities but later as the story progresses it shows the aim to highlight the attachment between main protagonist and the main female protagonist to abnormally abnormal level if talking like the story.

Many people say that they can do anything for the one they love but this story depicts the same thing and pushes it to its limits. You can understand the depth of the story by simple question.
"Can you go as far as for the one you love to do anything, betray everyone even though it hurts in the heart, can you find the person if he/she doesn't exist, search for 1000s of 'years' and lose yourself, your personality, sanity, everything, you go mad but still repeat the person's name a thousand times to find he/she?"

When I completed the 7 volumes, this question crossed through my head, in reality it is impossible, but the story certainly breaks the concept of reality and madness.

I simply love the fact how attached the mc and f-mc, just because of this fact it is worth reading.

In volume 1- It is the best written volume out of all of them (just based on writing, there is another factor that is counted in novels 'feelings'). The story of this volume is absolutely fabulous, although it goes about it an roundabout approach, when it all clears up, you then realize how much enjoyable and cruel it was, it leaves a huge impact on the reader and makes them realize that the normal looking mc is very different from normal, he is still very kind and gratefully cruel in the 1st volume, but when someone considers himself normal but his perception of normal is very much abnormal, that's what I realized, he is on a different plane that others.

In volume 2- Honestly, it was crap... it felt so bad after reading the amazing 1st volume, but that's just my personal feeling, for many people it may be bad but for many people it may be the best on the story. This volume was just acting as a mini switch that was turned on for the main character, many people don't notice but it is the fact that this volume made a hole in the mc. Well.. it wasn't that bad y'know.

In volume 3:4- Basically both the volumes are cannon fodder for the building of the mc and realization of the f-mc that she can't stay true to her feeling no matter how much she wants and also introduces many characters that have screws loose in their brains, like I hate the fact they act all innocent while are very cunning and shrewd but still want to be saved by the mc but I love the fact that how much other characters beg him to save them, he just doesn't give a crap (not now in the next volumes), these volumes also show and highlight the main weakness between the bond of the main characters but that leads the mc to create an abnormally large and limitless attachment. These volumes basically are meant to make the mc set a goal that seems awfully cruel to other people.

In volume 5:6- These volumes are the ones where things really take a turn for the worst and what can I say, it's fabulous. Finally the mc abandons all his kindness and goes for the aggressive, like hell yeah! these were the most enjoyable chapters. The fact that the mc just uses his best friends and sacrifices them while suppressing his fragile and abnormal heart and just crushes everything in his way, he makes an abnormal resolution to crush everything in his way to fulfill his attachment. I love the fact that the f-mc is crying at heart praying not to cut her attachments to him but her own ideals don't allow her live with her attachments. The point where the mc goes to where whatever he does he can't return is reached.

In the last volume - It's pure madness, just by reading it I thought what was the author thinking, is he abnormal too. It's nothing but madness at first, at the start you will think the mc had gone crazy, he doesn't care for anything except for her dear sweetheart. Slowly as he shreds his own soul and abandons his own being and humanity just to bring he back is so heartwarming but his ways became so cruel that he loses himself but still doesn't forget her. At this point at the middle, every word and line makes you cry a thousand tears at the madness and craziness. Every time I read a line my heart ached a lot, I cried a lot but still you can't stop yourself from reading next lines. But I feel like it lacked the impact for the end but logically it ended at the beginning, the later part was just an epilogue, that again will make you cry as many times he calls her name. ( Her name has lot of meaning).

Lastly, it was a very good read and I recommend it to everyone, I will give it a 10 not based on the story any other matter, I just enjoyed and loved the series so much that I want to give it the best review and rating I could I give.

Utsuro no Hako to Zero no Maria review
I started to read when I was around 10 years old, when my grandma brought me an old book : "La gloire de mon pere" written by marcel pagnol. It's not an incredibly good book, but it checks out, especially for 10 years old dumb me.
I loved it and quickly read the second book and even thinking back about it now, the tears are getting up to my eyes, wether it be because of pure nostalgia or because the story was so wholesome and cheerful.
Now you may ask yourself : why is he saying that ? It's because I also cried while reading this magnificent piece of garbage.
It's an absolute massacre, and reminds me that lights novels were, are and always will be nothing more than absolute trash written by edgy japanese teens.
The Story is half decent ,while not being original, but that's at the start, my friend, because the writer shoots itself in the foot by basically serving the same thing time and time again but by changing one little detail. And guess what is worse than the story : the writing, I have just never seen such horrible writing, you don't understand what's going on, you switch characters just like that, not any of the things that happen really explained and if they are it's really bad. none of the characters are interesting, none of them really change in any way except when the author just feels like it and changes it from A to Z with a dumb reason like "IT's A BoX ThAt MadE HiM thAt WaY".
Anyway if you like yourself a little or at least like good writing do not read this.

Nana to Kaoru: Pink Pure review
STORY: 1

If you're a fan of Nana to Kaoru & Nana to Kaoru: Black Label, avoid this like the plague because it was done by a different author named Momose Tamami, who's a terrible writer. It's not canon and comes in the form of two vertical four-panel "skits" or sometimes an 8-panel sketch. This is incredibly odd considering it's not what the fans would associate the name Nana to Kaoru with. There is no story.

ART: 1

It's drawn in a moe/chibi art form a lot and will start to annoy you more and more as you try to make it to the end, just hoping that it gets better at some point. It really makes you wonder who draws an S&M manga for an audience of grade schoolers? It's not exactly the most graceful way to damage a series name. I wouldn't recommend it.

CHARACTERS: 1

There's no story, thus no character development and they just feel and act differently than the original characters. It's not at all enjoyable, no matter how hard you try to like it. I wanted to see it from an openminded point of view and even when I did see it as a standalone manga, it still sucked.

ENJOYMENT: 1

I absolutely loathed this parasite to the parent series. I'm not sure who gave this sales pitch the green light but they need to be moved to a different industry.
OVERALL: 1

I would sooner watch dubbed anime than read this ever again. It's true garbage through and through. I'm only looking out for you; don't read this craptastic "manga." If you're an M though, go for it, there's ample pain in reading this nonsense.

CROSSBONE TANTEIDAN review
The story follows the crossbones detective agenct through a few cases, though I wouldn't call the cases 'supernatural' (thats more the oneshot last chapter that's unrelated to the first 4). Perhaps qwerky is a better term for the cases. Afterall, who wants to steal a cat? Or the last remaining reel of a movie that flopped?

The art is decent and the characters are fun and somtimes mysterious. The downside is there's not enough time to get to know the characters. There are hints to their pasts and they seem like they could be very interesting characters, but the story overall is so short that sadly the reader never gets a chance to delve into the characters more deeply.

The story follows qwerky cases with the three main detective characters and one very odd villian. The villian however seems to be outwitted a little too easily by Shiki (one of the detectives) most of the time. There's hints to Shiki's past, which sounds interesting, and his motives for joining the detective agency again seem interesting, but sadly remain undeveloped. One downside is the stories wrap up rather quickly and sometimes too neatly without the reader ever getting to see anything but -okay, it's solved.

There are some earmarks here of an interesing detective story with delightful and interesting characters, but the pace is often rushed and the resolutions just too convienient. It has great potential, but reamins underdeveloped. Still, it is an enjoyable, sometimes comedic read. If you're looking for a little detective mystery with some off-beat cases and fun characters this is an enjoyable read.

Anata ni Tsunagaretai review
Oy...just oy.

There are four one shots in the series and all separate story. I will give a round about idea of what is going on in these stories. The first three have rape, two of the three entail emotional blackmail of the female for sex leading to repeated rape, and the last one deals with an attempted rape. Of the the first three they fit into MS's category of what is deemed, stupidly, to be called "concensual rape". The absolute absurdity of that classification is disturbing in and of itself. I was horrified. I was horrified and pissed off as a female to see females being subjected to this sort of marginalization, abuse, and subjugation but also horrified that these women went back for more. It's disgusting because these stories are written by another woman.

The first one-shot: A young business man has the perverse feeling of destroying "pure" things. As he puts it, "he likes to dirty pure things because he's dirty." Do you find out what dirties him, exactly or explicitly detailed?! No, you don't. A naive orphan girl goes to wish her brother a happy birthday at his place of work is mistakenly (or we assume mistakenly) taken for someone else and is raped. However, she puts up a meager fight but seems reluctantly willing to be violated. Then she reaches a status of being dependent and "tamed" by this man and wants to be with him. He rapes her but she ponders the issues lightly but has fun with him and then falls in love with him. The most horrifying scene deals with an earring; at that point I almost dropped this manga. I felt like I was slapped in the face. Did I like this? Obviously not, the characters were poorly detailed to boot and the one-shot was poorly done if drawn beautifully.

Second one-shot: Girl is in a "fuck buddies" relationship with her so-called boyfriend and then meets a guy and has sex with him. Said honey of sex blackmails her or gives her an ultimatum and she willing goes along for a day of sex. Then she stalks her to her school and then she willing becomes his girlfriend on the side with sex benefits while she was still dating the other fool. The other fool of course doesn't take kindly to being "cuckold" and retaliates; but the main couple find true love....my ass. Alright the guy is of course skilled in fighting, well known member of a boy school and is extremely wealthy. Aren't they always? She is just a sex buddy who is not happy in her relationship and "yearns" for something deeper and more substantial and wants a relationship built on love and not sex. Yet, she has sex with rich boy first time but wants substance?! Does that make sense to anyone?! She's a flake of the first quarter and definitely quite easy---sexually transmitted diseases mean nothing. Possibly being murdered means nothing. He's a guy who blackmails or gives her an ultimate, and he was able to string her in. He knows how to pick them...

Third one-shot:**As a note this was the story where the girl said basically what happened to all the girls in a lot of MSs work, they are raped, abused, and mistreated.

I felt a bit of pity for this girl because there have been girls in this position before and normally by some sort of authority figure, be it familial or in their work place or school. Because of that it is disturbing but the fact that she becomes a willing participant who anticipates these moments is not cool. Women have been used and abused for their bodies for years. To get a head a woman had to deal with sexual harassment or threats in order to ensure her future survival. To see this abuse in a manga is one thing, to see it turn to love is a joke. So this poor naive girl is on the tennis team and in a relationship. She's being abused by a guy of authority who is admired and believed to be a dream boat. She was blackmailed into it after a big mistake, that is definitely her fault but still did not deserve this treatment. To see her suffrage you feel for her, it was when she turned around and seemed to anticipate and want more that threw you off. I agreed with her boyfriend at the end of the story.

The last story is the only one without a rape scene and reminded me more of Akuma no Eros. Just a hot guy who's the head of all gangs and is feared by everyone has an admirer in a young girl that will do anything to have him because she loves him. There's a deeper story here that could have been good if MS had chose to develop it. Unfortunately as a one-shot it didn't go anywhere, so I got nothing much out of it.

The characters at times feel a bit rushed, the stories are totally rushed and I find the characters poorly or mediocre plus the male leads were just too horrible to talk about; with female leads that are uninspiring for women to even waste the time to read.

SENSEI NI, AGERU review
"Sensei ni ageru" is your average student-teacher romance manga.

On one hand, it tells the cliché-smelling story of a schoolgirl who has problems fitting into her class community falling in love with the only person that understands her true nature and values her (and who just happens to turn out to be her form teacher, as another familiar twist); on the other hand, however, the quality of the artwork and the honest and innocent way of thinking of the main characters gives the manga a fresh feeling, thus it somewhat compensates for the "ready-made" story.

To keep it short, here are my ratings with a few keywords:

Story: 6
+ logically built, easy to follow; best point: the way they finally deal with the situation when they get found out
- based on clichés; predictable; too short (and too hasty, takes on much more than it can manage in 10 chapters)

Art: 7
+ superior to the narrative
- simply beautiful, but not interesting, it does not build a unique imagery

Character: 3
+ honest, innocent characters; characters are constantly developing (and thinking, reflecting on their situation and actions, which is quite rare among the romantic shoujo manga of the same length)
- the biggest flaw of the manga in my opinion: the characters are undermotivated, flat, one-dimensional figures with no real depth (let us take the older sister as an example: one can pretty much guess what she is thinking throughout the story, but precisely because she always acts kind and is constantly smiling, the reader might feel disappointed, being left without any further insight to her thoughts, real emotions, and -most importantly- her relationship with her younger sister's teacher; same goes for all the other characters as well)

Enjoyment: 6
+ although it certainly has its flaws, it was a good read for a boring evening

Overall: 6
+ at first, I wanted to give it a 4; however, seeing that -surprisingly enough- the average of my previous ratings was a little above 5, I decided to give it an overall 6 :)

Enjoy the manga! :)

Figure 17 review
This is one of the marquee dramas in the department of paperback I've ever read, and is the overall best manga I've paid money for. Never before has two volumes of a manga enveloped such a compelling story like Figure 17. While I might be hotshotting this very early in the review, I'm having a hard time seeing anyone being disappointed in this series if they are looking for a solid, yet intricate tale of companionship, trust, and some alien busting action.
This might sound trite, but what Figure 17 does so well is being so character-driven. Granted, the argument can be made that all stories are character driven, but more often than not, a great deal of what you learn about your protagonist in anime and manga is what they can do on the battle-field, or being really good at sports, etc. Every now and then, your run of-the-mill hero/herione will state that their power helps them protect their loved ones, and keep harm from coming to the the citizens of their respective towns or school. I have no bones to pick with that formula, I've seen it quite frequently.
But I haven't CARED genuinely about the motives or objectives of the hero in quite some time (Okay, my good guy is a Soul Reaper, ninja, ghost hunter, you name it. Fine, let's move on)! This is what makes Tsubasa Shiina so compelling. I can't get into too much critical detail, as they are kind of juicy, but watching her being thrusted into her crisis of alien invasion clean-up and learning how to accept the responsibilty, as well as learning other valuable life lessons and tokens of good wisdom with the help of a great supporting cast, headlined by Hikaru Shiina, is very satisfying. Only a handful of protagonists who started off wanting nothing to do with their tasks has won me over so well. Tsubasa is as shy a girl as you can get in a manga, but my God, she gains so much heart, it's amazing. She falls down, cries, and wants to be picked up, but starts picking herself up. I'm currently witnessing the same thing with Yoshimori in Kekkaishi, and he's another great example. All of the characters are very well written, with nobody feeling out of place or forced. Even the seemingly over-aggressive Kenta, who you may think might have a pine cone up his ass from the moment he appears, and the robotic Oldina, DD's alien higher-up watch dog (more like a grouchy human resources lady) who I eventually grew to like, are welcome players.
The artwork is gorgeous, utilizing expressive facials on the characters, and the artist's rendering of a rural Japanese mountain town is made all the better when faced with the fact that space creatures are burrowing beneath the surface. Action scenes are well drawn, and pretty fast-paced, as the fights start off brief.
IN CLOSING: I know I'm reading a fantastic manga with beautiful characters when I forget the focal point of the plot is about stopping aliens from taking over the planet. If you enjoyed Alien Nine, this is fairly similar in several aspects. It's short length puts me in the mind of reading an 80 minute sci-fi movie, and if I nitpicked, it could've been longer. But that's what the anime is for. This is everything you could ask a story to do for you and does everything right, with no mistakes I can point out, and that's why it's the best manga title I've ever read, and one of the very few that I'll give all 10's for.

STORY: 10
ART: 10
CHARACTERS: 10
ENJOYMENT: 10
OVERALL: 10 out of 10

PROS: Great characters, awesome tear-jerking story, BEST......ENDING......EVER
CONS:........Yeah, none here. I'm serious
