One Piece review
I'm not trying to be at all objective with this review, as I have grown up reading this manga, so it's inevitable that my partiality is going to shine through just a bit. Well, more than a bit. My "review" is, more or less, a praise bonanza.

One Piece has been a part of my life for a long time, now. It was only the second manga I ever caught up to so to speak, and it's been going on for so long that it's damn near impossible for me to write a proper review for for the series. There have been so many arcs that I don't even know where to begin, and, truth be told, the storyline has never truly been what drives me to continue looking forward to new chapters week after week, anyway.

What makes One Piece truly special to me is it's light hearted characters, fun sense of adventure, and humour. Few Manga have been able to invoke audible laughter from me, and One Piece is on that list. With the exception of the Impel Down and Marine Ford arcs, the series seldom loses sight of these elements.

Another especially notable aspect of the series is it's characters. There are a wealth of stand-out characters in One Piece. Not only are almost all of them unique and peculiar in their own ways, but each and every one of them is fleshed out over the course of the various arcs. By the time I'd caught up to the weekly releases, Luffy's crew, and even a surprising number of the side characters, had begun to feel like old friends, and that "bond" has only grown stronger over the years.

Furthermore, One Piece's artwork is uniquely stylistic, and aids the overall light hearted feel of the manga brilliantly. The backgrounds are nicely fleshed out. The various islands the crew visits throughout the series are uniquely themed. The characters who inhabit them, almost without fail, have their own quirky traits to coincide with the crazy lands they live in.

Character design is an area in which One Piece both excels and fails. In the early chapters, it is sometimes difficult to tell some of the characters apart. This is a problem many manga seem to have, especially when it comes to female characters. A chief example of this is Vivi, Nami, and Kaya; Without the aide of unique hair colours to tell them apart, they look nearly identical. Later chapters more or less rectify this fault, though, as the new character designs begin to look more fantastic, even as the art style grows more realistic.

One Piece receives a great deal of hate from certain Anime fans, some of it deservedly so. It is most certainly not a series that everyone can enjoy, but, if you're looking for a fun, quirky series, and you don't mind a few Shounen clichés, I would highly recommend that you at least give it a chance.

Overall, reading this series has been an almost entirely positive experience for me. That's not to say that it hasn't had it's low moments, but the highs far outweigh the lows in this grand adventure. I have yet to find another anime or manga that embodies the spirit of kinship and adventure in quite the same way as One Piece. This is a series that, to me, will never grow old.

JoJo no Kimyou na Bouken Part 7: Steel Ball Run review
Wow ok, when people said the writing in this part is the best in the series, I never actually thought it was true but after reading it Johnny and Gyro have one of the best friendship dynamics since Goku and Krillin in the OG Dragonball

Speaking of characters, I felt sympathetic for Johnny and loved Gyro, I mean Johnny gets paralyzed and loses his fame...for skipping a line and screwing a kid over, I mean, yeah, he was a douche but in my opinion the punishment is one of the biggest examples of disproportianate retribution I've ever seen. Also as someone who's been trapped by crushing expectations and societal pressures I can relate to Gyro and his struggle to break from it to do what he truly believes is right and he actually becomes my 2nd favorite character in the series just below Jonathan

The rival Diego, also is one of my favorite characters in JoJo rivaling PB Dio Brando for my 3rd favorite character, his motivations is realistic and unlike PB Dio he actually seems to have a moral compass and feels regret for some of the actions he does(like screwing over Wekapipo), but on an off note, I hate the way he died

Speaking of death, it's one of my main gripes in the part, in the beginning, most characters of importance influences are still seen in the characters such as Ringo but at the end you have, Diego getting flattened...and only mentioned twice then forgotten, Hot Pants...falling off the train and not even mentioned, Valentine, a JoJo villain who are infamous for suffering horrific fates, just gets shot to death and Gyro, a Zeppeli, the guys who literally had to be cut in half, and hit with essentially an insta-kill attack and crushed by a cross, dies from fish bites and scratches...to his heart, but still imo, not exactly the blaze of glory the other Zeppelis got. Also Au Diego's death felt like a copout

Valentine, as a villain, gets the job done, but considering his philosophy, I ended up confused by his previous actions, not collecting the corpse parts but half of the other stuff he did like betraying Diego, killing suboordinates, and being an all around asshole, if he was as patriotic as his late chapters reveal wouldn't he want the best for not only his country but for ALL his citizens, with as little bloodshed as possible? I mean it made sense why he targeted Johnny considering he was collecting the corpse for selfish reasons but everyone else was just serving him faithfully(with probable exception to Diego)

But all in all I like the characters dynamic between the heroes and antagonists.

Shifting towards the artstyle I LOVED the beginning and Middle of the Part, I started to dislike it around Chapter 90 but that was the end of the part so I didn't mind too much

My biggest complaint is the ending fight, Pulling AU Diego at the very ending left a sour taste in my mouth, if he had been introduced in the middle of the Valentine fight I wouldn't mind so much, but not only is it Johnny's last opponent(Which I personally think doesn't fit considering his entire drive, as a starting jockey, was to defeat Diego and prove his father wrong but, it would've been better if RU Diego was the last opponent. I didn't mind Johnny losing the race at the end, it was him getting disqualified and losing to Diego that bothered me, not even the same one at that; why not just have Johnny and Diego go for a fair race at the end but lose at the last round because of their fighting getting something like, 4th and 5th respectively. As stated earlier Diego gets killed in what I feel is a BS way, dude gets jumped by Lucy(which considering this dude is more like PB Dio then anything, he should've just killed her outright) and dies with no real motive or goal that made me care about him.

TL;DR: Johhny and Gyro are awesome, Diego and Lucy are boss characters, AU Diego feels like a copout, Valentine or RU Diego should've been last villain So i give Stell ball run 10/10

Akira review
Akira is arguably one of the most influential manga ever created. It turned Otomo into one of the gods of manga, even though he never again penned of a similar scale. It is his opus, as it rightly should be. The landmark film adaption, one of the most important anime ever released and one of the films responsible for the popularity of anime in America, is an achievement, to say the least. What one does not typically realize, though, is that, while the 2 hour adaption does remain true to the original for the most part, it covers less than 2 volumes of the manga before more or less fast forwarding to the end. It is actually laughable to think that Hollywood thought they could turn this masterpiece into a live-action, star studded film trilogy set in Manhattan.

The book’s art is gorgeous. Otomo has a very distinct style that not only makes his work very recognizable but also contains incredible amounts of detail. I never questioned the emotion on the character’s faces, and I recall particularly a moment in a fight between Kaneda and an overpowered Tetsuo in which their fear was almost tangible. The wide shots of Neo-Tokyo and the Great Tokyo Empire are incredible. Each and every panel is full of things that make the world of Akira so real that I felt as though I could have boarded a plane and taken pictures of the place.

Katsuhiro Otomo has directed two feature animated films, as well as a number of shorts. Akira and Steamboy both contain the impeccable eye for composition that Otomo displays in Akira. The book plays out like a movie, the panel layout directing the eye smoothly through the story in a way that is more cinematic than a large amount of actual cinema. There are no true breaks in the story, with the exception of natural lulls and scene changes. As I was reading, I often wondered how the manga was split up when it was published originally or reprinted by Marvel in the late 80s.

The story itself is intriguing. The writing is clever and well done, all of the dialogue serving to not only further the story but to give us more of a sense of each character’s personality. It does, at times, get a bit confusing. There is a lot happening all at once, and some of the similarities between character names can cause some difficulty in the beginning. But the tale of psychic teenagers and children and the immanent destruction of the world around us or society as we know it is played out quite well. Often the scale of things seems ridiculous when one takes a step back, but it is so well written that it completely works within the book.

Akira is one of the most important manga ever written. It is a piece that no one should miss. If you are fortunate enough to pick up all 6 volumes at once (an act I would highly recommend), I can almost guarantee you will finish the entire thing in a day. The book is, however, deeply steeped in Japanese culture and post-WW2 ideology. This can take away from it somewhat if you are unfamiliar/unwilling to try to understand. That being said, if you have not read this book, you are doing a great disservice to yourself.

Shinyaku Toaru Majutsu no Index review
Ok. So this is one of my favorite light novel series out there so i thought of making a review for it.

It's still basically magic vs science, but in a better way than the previous series. TouMAN is here to punch girls in there faces yet again!

well so lets start with the review.
Story : as the previous Index series, this series is also a character driven story. The events happening in many protagonists lives are smoothly connected. Magic vs Science is here yet again and adds more crisp. The fight scenes are always a treat with both sides using brain & muscle to overcome each other. The story is well executed within it's full potential through out the series. 9/10
Narrative abilities :
Kamachi never fails to amaze us with the plot twists and his well written narration. Every volume has a different type of narration as various gimmicks, but it's all well written and executed with the events occuring. The point of view frequently changes between characters, so you get a good grasp of situations through different angles.
Especially volume 7 is my favorite. Heroes vs Heroes setting was simply mind blowing to read. 9/10.
Characters :
Strongest point of NT. It's filled with different types of characters. We have TOUMA, our usual protag. But then there's accelerator with his own probles about his killings, hamazura who despite being a target of killing for academy city but still living within the city and trying to live a happy life, misaka who's trying to get close to touma and much more.
The character developement Touma has got is especially remarkable. He's our typical hero, but he can be a little selfish too sometimes to save himself, right?
Same is applied to other characters, misaka, accelerator, hamazura, birdway all go through some developement of their own.
Othinus was best antogonist of the series. Her development was heartwarming to say the least.
I feel sorry for index though.
10/10
Art : good. This is added bonus with plenty of illustrations to add in your reading. It's good, it's there when necessary and it enhances the enjoyment as whole.
8/10
Enjoyment : this series is a collision of various ideolisms, philosophies and such. And it's presented in a complex way, so you enjoy it when you finally realise the concept of each characters motive. As i said, volume 7 is my favorite. Thousands of heroes fighting each other to save one girl but all in different way. And the way it was narrated was mind blowing. Same with volume 9. The emotional trauma of kamijou was so well written that you feel it yourself. I loved all settings and surprisingly every volume has a different setting and it's well executed in each. It was a great read put all together.
10/10.
Overall : 9/10.
Yeah, i really enjoyed it. It's nowhere near flawless but Every volume offered something different and i loved it all.
It all comes down to our own preferences, and this series pretty much satisfies me in every bit. This novel series is generic yet refreshing, complex yet simple and all.
I definately recommend this series to each & all of you. It's a great reading experience.
Maybe you wont like it as much as i do but it's definately worth a try.
I also suggest to read the previous series or watch the anime so you can enjoy this fully.
This review ends.

10-nengoshi no Hiki-NEET wo Yamete Gaishutsu shitara review
PROS:
- refreshing sense of humour
- unique (?) characters, e.g. great [dog] MC; she's a dog, though

CONS:
- unoriginal setting
- not much plot, and story is not very captivating
- some chapters in 'message board' format, can be tiresome to read

So our MC is teleported to another world...with his dog. That's the most important point, please don't forget the dog. She's a dog, though.

The author first runs us through the usual rollercoaster of events and reactions to being teleported to a fantasy world - meeting monsters, exploring (?), battles (?), survival (?), etc. For those who are already used to this genre, this intro material will be pretty boring...right? Not really.

MC is not OP at all. Far from being demon king/hero incarnate, he's actually pretty lacking upstairs. MC's decision-making and thought processes are kinda cringe-worthy, but at least he's aware of it and puts in some real effort to make up for it. If it weren't for his canine BFF, I would've stopped reading within the first 5 chapters. She's a dog, though.

Despite being teleported to another world, MC is still able to access a 2chan style message board. There, he consults the wisdom of his fellow NEETs (?) to survive in his unfamiliar environment. Of course, no board is without its fair share of trolls and colourful (?) personalities. Sure enough, we find all kinds (?) of praise-worthy (?) characters willing to enlighten (?) MC.

Anyway, for those of you who like underpowered MCs (lol), dogs, or online message boards, you might like this series. The author loves to insult MC (lol), so there's a great deal of comedy to found there...

Ichabod no Seikatsu review
I stumbled upon this randomly like browsing on this site, and I was thoroughly impressed, so here are my thoughts.

Story: 7/10: Its very odd in terms of story beats, premise and more. It follows around Ichabod, a boy of two mothers, who was made possible a random individuals sperm that the two woman got from a sperm bank. Unfortunately for the two woman, when he was birthed, he turned out to be a boy when the two now mother's were hoping for a girl. He was dressed up similarly to a girl as a child which lead to an odd personality. The woman who birthed him left, leaving the other woman to take care of him. Turns out though, that his father is a notorious criminal. The story starts when he tries to cut off his... uh, dick but luckily only cut off some of the foreskin. After this, he joins a group of criminals in search for his father who appears in his head at times.

Its quite unique which was surprising to me, seeing how it seemed like a normal shonen story of a boy who wants to see his dad. But it was unique in the way that random ideas were thrown in, like he doesn't have a dad, has a mental issue, etc. The way the story paces out is quite delectable and is actually very easy to get through which was also surprising.

Art 6/10: Now, I don't know if it was the website I got it off from, but their was some horrible tampering with it. It mostly ruined the art for me which was a downer for the whole manga, but I'll try to keep it focused on the artist's actual illustrations. Their quite average, being similar to probably hundreds of other manga out their, but serve for the story quite well. Some of the proportions (specifically, the feet) Can be really odd at times. But the angles, characters, and locations are all way drawn and portray the scenes well. If it wasn't for the poor quality version I had acquired then I probably would've given it a 7 or 7.5.

Characters 7/10: The characters stick to their personalites a lot, even a bit too much. Even when the mother sees her 12 year son, bleeding from his crouch, she acts very subdued and almost bored, with no real difference in her facial expressions. Even when a hostage siuation is going down, she's blank faced as usual. I would expect it from Ichabod, being raised in an odd living environment, and siuation, but from the mother makes no real sense. His "gang" has a weird cast of characters, and the character interactions don't really make up a lot of the short manga. Also some of the character's intentions and backstories can be awkwardly shown which might confuse some readers.

Enjoyment: 6.5/10: Not one of the best Manga I've ever read, and not one of the worst one's I watched. Its very odd which gives it the right for a mention. The odd pixelation I had experienced, along with the odd story beats and underused/poorly characters really dumbed it down, but some aspects really shone through.

Overall: 7.5/10

DEAD HEADS review
'A young man who is missing fingers and a girl in a straight jacket. The dead rule, while the living begin to resist!'

Tsutomu Nihei's preoccupation with diseases run rampant, threatening humanity itself, rears its ugly head again in this tragically aborted manga.

Nihei charts the same story from different angles in all his manga, it’s always about the end of the world, a disease, and humanity being forced to evolve into something else.

Dead Heads is Nihei doing romantic comedy. Without the comedy. Ok, so it’s a romantic chase story set in a world that would make George A. Romero have nightmares. That’s right; Nihei attempted to make the world's best zombie manga but for whatever reason it was just not to be this time.

This is a damn shame because you just know Nihei and zombies go together like Simon Pegg and Nick Frost. The manga author's works are so dour and depressing, so darkly humorous and edgy, they're already populated by zombies anyway, but the idea of Nihei drawing a world of zombies chasing a few humans struggling to survive in a barren wasteland, it’s almost too much to handle.

The end of this sole chapter brims with so much potential; so much expectation from the reader, it’s quite painful to know that there is nothing after that page. Hopefully Nihei will re-attempt the zombie genre in the future, not that he hasn’t dipped his toes into it already with his previous manga, but we all want to see him confront it head on like a cricket bat into zombie skull.
