Story: First off, I should say that Death Note is extremely wordy. It honestly would've been better off as a light novel from the start. If the author could plot all that is in Death Note, I don't think he would've had a problem describing character emotions and setting the tone for the atmosphere. That being said, this is definitely not a manga that a young, not-as-knowledgeable person should pick up and read. Not for explicit content, but for fear that their little brains would leak out through their ears after trying to read and guess what will happen next in the plot. Plus, y'know, the whole heavy death theme.

However, that's where the beauty of the story of Death Note comes in. There were many twists and turns that keep the reader hooked and guessing, up to a certain point, the story keeps the reader guessing on when it will end. The first half was very creative. Some of the things that Light thought of and {even more impressively} pulled off, had gained him some respect points in my book. I was always curious to see what he would do next, given the situations he was put in.

After the aforementioned point, not much happened story-wise. More lovable characters were introduced, but I think it was a bad move on Ohba's part to move around some of those characters, so he couldn't put them to their potential use to make the second half of the story more interesting. I understand that some significant things happened in the second half, and I probably would've liked them if those significant things were presented in more of a climatic light.

Even if the second half was kind of boring, I recommend sticking with it. The ending sort of washes away the mundane of most of the second half. It's a beautiful display of human emotion and character development. For the close-minded people who couldn't {or refuse to} see the possible other side of the story and think that Kira is invincible, you might be surprised by this ending. While I sort of saw some aspects coming, the ending surprised me as well. It gets the respect it deserves.



Art: I don't even know what to say about the art. Everything was done beautifully. While it was a manga, the art didn't have that manga feel. It seemed more realistic to me, which was a nice change from oversized eyes, appendages, and hair with enough volume to inflate and cause the character to float away when a breeze rolls in. Most of the character designs were simple, but when it came to the shinigami and {at points} Misa, Obata drew them well. And let's not forget the volume covers and chapter pages. It's those specific art pages that we really get to see the nice proportion that the artist used, and the creative ways he makes the characters look good with a nice mix of clothing creases, shading, expressions and positions.



Characters: The characters in this manga were wonderful. The characters were developed well, every character {even supporting characters} had some special trait about them and a specific personality. I absolutely loved how every character was dynamic -- they changed in some way at the end, even if the plot didn't examine how they had changed. They were absolute; you either liked or disliked certain characters, there was no middle ground. There was even contrast to the characters -- Light is a bit mean and introverted, while Misa is quite extroverted, L never sleeps or goes anywhere and always has his eyes open, while Watari has his eyes closed and is L's runner, etc. The characters in Death Note were characters that you wouldn't really find anywhere else because they were all stock characters with a special twist on each of them.



Overall: The Death Note manga is certainly worth a read. Even though it's only 12 actual volumes, all the stuff that's packed in to those volumes make it seem longer. Plus there's anime, live-action movies, video games, and a later light novel prequel. Death Note raises good moral questions and is a good display of human nature. This isn't for someone who doesn't want to THINK about what they're reading while reading it. This IS for someone who wants to see a battle of brains and wits go down instead of fists and swords. A spin on something supernatural that doesn't involve mindless fighting makes for a good manga. Have fun with it.

It's been over a year and no one has bothered to review this so far, so I'll drop this out there for anyone who is curious.

This is yet another comfy slice-of-life from the same mangaka who did Pastel and Parallel. If you use those as a starting point, add some maturity and remove some silliness, you'll have a pretty good idea what to expect here.

A young schoolteacher moves to a rural island to escape some unpleasant memories in the big city. He ends up living alone with the teenaged daughter of his senpai for "reasons" and begins to settle into his new life surrounded by quirky locals and gorgeous landscape. There appear to be a few minor mysteries - the past troubles of the MC and the whereabouts of his senpai - that lurk behind the gently unfolding narrative.

There will probably be some romance in the near-ish future, but this guy is the grandmaster of "slow burn" so it might be awhile. And that's fine. Everything about this story suggests it will be a long-term investment, more about the journey than the destination. I'm looking forward to the ride.

It's like a 10 page one shot which was absolutely ridiculous. Not saying I didn't enjoy it though.
The story line was pathetic, a camera man falls in love with a yeti and quits his job to be with it. A bear comes along and the yeti saves him.
It was so utterly absurd that I laughed too myself for like 5 minutes.
It's two minutes of your time so I say you might as well read it, have a laugh.

Colorful Harvest in short is about a boy who confesses to a girl he loved that turns him down, later on leaves his farming life to go off to college to get away from the farm and his broken heart. Years later comes back home to find out the one he loved now misses and regrets turning him down. Not to mention a few other girls that liked him but never had the guts to tell him, who feel this is their chance to confess before he go's back to college. The story is well written even though it only has a few chapters displays good romance/ drama/ ecchi/ and harem complex with in the story.

Well i havent finshed it yet but i have to admit it it has a mysterious story.There is a lot of splater and blood from the very biggining so if u are not a fan of this stuff u better not try to read this...The characters are not so great and u can not feel any particular fellings for them like in other manga ( and anime ) but even with no great characters it is keeping me to watch it cause it has great mystery.Well its not a manga i would recoment to anyone but u can still read it if u want to see some blood... It has GREAT ART though with all its gore to the max.Well i would give it an overall of 5/10.

Absolutely terrible and it boggles my mind how some people even think it's good. Let me try and break it down into categories.

Story: Incredibly generic. Not only has this type of story, world, and atmosphere been done countless times before to the point that it's barely even remotely appealing anymore this series can't even pull it off effectively. The story is incredibly poorly written and juvenile as is the humor. It feels like some 12 year olds crappy D. Gray Man fan-fiction. Not to mention the entire concept of the story is incredibly pretentious as well as just stupid and laughably ridiculous. And of course the series got a rushed ending and cancellation due to how horrible it did in the rankings due to how horrible the series was. And the series of course went down the generic "FRIENDSHIP IS ULTRA SUPER AWESOME POWER NAKAMA PUNCH" route which just made it even worse.

Art: This series only redeeming factor. This kids art and panelwork honestly is really good and I do hope that this series inevitably getting an early axe won't discourage him from trying to get serialized in Jump in the future. I feel that this kid would be great if he was paired with somebody who was writing the story for him and he just did the art.

Character: All of the characters are paper thin 1 dimensional generic battle shonen stereotypes. And the MC is just annoying. That honestly is all there is to say. The characters and characterization in this manga is just straight up bad.

Enjoyment: Other than the art? Haha, yeah no.

Overall: Objectively terrible. The only thing that kept it from getting a 1 was the art and the panel-work.

Well a guy gets minecraft powers and uses them to help his master the sexy elf pretty much thats the plot LOL has some sex scenes the story pace is kinda fast but for now its not bad i guess i like the minecraft aspect thats new i dont think i found another manga like this that took inspiration from minecraft other then that i dont know if it will get better but its not a bad read if you ir bored i guess and want a new kind of isekai power protagonist there you have it give it a read he can make stoves,walls houses and other stuff basicly like in minecraft relly

This is dumb. This manga is really dumb. It would not be an exaggeration to say this is one of the most childish, inane, rambly messes of a story that has ever graced my eyeballs. Every chapter has a new twist that is absolutely absurd, and not in any thought-provoking way, the plot is a straightforward mess, every character is flat as loli dad's chest and the whole thing reads more like a fever dream after spending all day on message boards.

BUT

It is all incredibly entertaining. This is incredibly dumb, but by god is it dumb fun. Every page is a new "haha, what?" moment and I had an absolute blast reading it. The simple art and imbecilic plot combine to make something that's just so incredible out there it's amazing.

You really shouldn't be reading this review. If the concept of a man turning himself into a "loli" hasn't already got you to read this thing then it's not for you. But if you are, and you want to turn off all higher logical functions for an hour and a half, this is the manga for you.

This is my first review so pardon for any mistakes whatsoever and hope that what I want to convey reaches you.

This story is based on the world where dreams can be extracted and be watched as a movie. Wonderful ,right? NO wrong, it's not. Well the end will justify this if you read it.

What really made me like this was the sci-fi element of story and how well author bend it for bringing out great emotions out of just a few scenes. The art is so-so i.e. characters are differentiable from eachother.

Yes, I enjoyed it? I still have mixed feelings about how story ended because of psychological element and the just ending presented.

All in all this was a vague review of this oneshot to make you read it.

If this was 3rd placed, then how good would be the 1st and 2nd placed oneshots would be. Food for thought!

To start i want to say those who think it's a bad manga (and only reaeded 10 chapters) please, continue reading.
I haven't finalized the manga bc it's only available until 58 chapter (i'm waiting FOR MORE) but, as the story progresses, it's really interesting. I mean, i'm writing this at 03:50 a.m because i just finished reading the last available chapter in english.
For those who loves "Time Travel" like me, wouldn't be so interesting about the story at the firsts chapters, but like the 2-3 volume turns MORE interesting...
I think the art was great, i felt like reading and looking something NEW, pretty and cool art style.
The charactares maybe could be better, but they progress through the chapters and you will (maybe) start to apreciatting they haha.
I really enjoyed read it 'til the last available chapter, like i said.
So i cant do an complete review, because im not finished it yet, but in overall rating i give it a 8 or maybe 7,5, but im gonna say 8.
