One Piece review
First of all, I started One Piece in 2014 after finishing Naruto which was the first Manga/Anime I got into. One Piece for me at first cartoonish as if I was watching a cartoon on a Saturday morning when I was a kid. It didn't have the serious Story line Naruto had at first or any cool aspects about it. The only thing that kept me watching/reading One Piece was out of curiosity of what randomness was gonna happen next. I took it as a comedy series more than anything. But the more and more you read/watch it starts getting more serious and an actual story line sets in over time that lasts multiple arcs and possibly is the final story line of what One Piece is. A lot of people got hooked on One Piece during the first 40 episodes but for me it took me a long while, more like 400 episodes...and people always ask me why I still continued reading/watching after it took so long to get hooked...most people would of given up I assume. For me though I just continued out of being bored mixed with the funny stuff happening in the story.

*****************SPOILERS BELOW***********************

What really finally got me hooked to One Piece was the moment after Thriller Bark when Kuma appears and Zoro takes all of Luffy's pain, I thought this was for sure the most intense moment so far for me watching/reading the series....and after that I really loved One Piece and started considering it better than Naruto, at that time I thought Naruto was amazing. But after I watched many other series I started seeing Naruto as pretty average. Anyway, now One Piece is my favorite manga and I'm caught up reading weekly and occasionally I re read a lot of arcs and a few chapters. I really enjoyed the Summit War saga which was the Sabaody, Amazon Lily, Impel Down, Marineford and the post War arcs... This stretch of Arcs are probably the climax of One Piece so far.

Now the World Building in One Piece is the best in any manga and possibly any fictional work. There are so many Islands they have been to and so much World Building so often that it feels like One Piece is a real world. I love how Oda does the cover stories to show what a few other characters are up to and it makes it feel even more real cause it shows how other characters are doing their own thing while we follow the main cast too.

One Piece review
(NO SPOILERS)
Short Review:

One Piece to me is Romantic, no, not the "Pretty flowers or Love-Dovey" kind, but the "Promise of An Adventure, The Image of a life spent chasing after a goal or achieving a dream, and to see the all that imagination has to offer from the brilliant mind of Oda Eiichiro". Even though, the huge amount seems daunting, it's fine. Take your time. We,your fellow readers, will patiently await you arrival abroad the ship.

Long Review:

A lot of people say One Piece fans make it seem Bigger than Life. Well,of course. Have you read about the guy who was going through depression, complementing sucide but one day after picking up One Piece,he kept reading and reading and because of something a character you said, he was inspired. He highlighted that quote, came back to it time after time and the quote gave him power to turn his life around.

I can't speak for that guy,but personally One Piece has been part of my life from Late Elementary School to End of Highschool(and looks like it will be following me into College as well). Week to week, I have enjoyed it not only as a work of Fiction but also as a source of inspiration. By tackling issues like Class discrimination, Race discrimination, Abuse of power, poverty, and much more, it has taught you to be better person than any thing at school.

Heck, the reason where I am today(graduating high school with a GPA of 3.75 ) all started because in 7th grade, I decided I am gonna study a lot, get a good job and buy all the One Piece Volumes. Thinking back, the reason is so freaking silly, but hey Inspiration comes in many forms.

Also a little rant :

One of the dumbest reason I have seen people rate One Piece low is because the main characters are Pirates yet they don't act like historical real-life pirates. Let me tell you why you DON'T wanna be one of those people, and save you from the embrassment;

Naruto is a ninja who wears bright color jumpsuits.
Goku is an alien, but to this day Humanity hasn't encountered Aliens.
No reports of Ancient Egyptian Pharaohs playing card games.
You cannot catch real-life animals in a spherical objects.
You can't kill a person by writing their name in a notebook.

Do you see how DUMB it sounds to say that One Piece characters are not realistic pirates? (For one,it's not even Planet Earth, why are you thinking your reality is the same as the fictional one?)

Now back to the review ;

One Piece doesn't need to be in Manga form, because at it's core It's a STORY. It doesn't rely on shock factors, or something as simple as creating a fictional character that shows off it's fictional strength by destroying fictional stuff. And Unlike the cries of it's haters claim, it is not a cash cow. Oda Eiichiro was ranked #2 by the people in the list of most beloved authors in 2015. Why? Because for over a decade now, One Piece has inspired, changed, and entertained millions in Japan and millions of others around the globe.

I know there are a lot of episodes and chapters, but trust me, don't skip them. Take a break, make a schedule, Doesn't matter if it takes a year. Once you catch up, you will be the one writing this review.

Koe no Katachi review
I will try to keep this review as brief and as spoiler-free as possible - I will probably go off tangent anyway

Story - 9/10
Art - 9/10
Character - 10/10
Enjoyment - 10/10
Overall - 10/10

Story - 9/10:
After watching the movie (and being deeply absorbed by it), I decided to read the manga and oh boy, was this a good decision. The movie left out many points from the manga in order to make it a suitable movie length (which was still too long for my taste xP), which I found great pleasure in seeing. Personally, I am not a big fan of the typical Slice of Life, Romance, Drama, School setting, but this story was amazing to say the least. Chapters were full of very interesting plot content, and they were usually around only 20 pages long. I tend to have trouble reading manga in general but this series kept me up non stop - I was reading unimaginable amounts of chapters every day (well, for me, anyway). I was never as engaged in a manga series as this one.

Art - 9/10:
I really loved the art style. Usually when I read manga, I may get lost in between panels and have to re-read slowly to understand where I am now, from what view etc etc. But in this series, I was on the ball - the panels were very easy to understand and the flow of the art and consistency was remarkable. The background art was always prominent yet not distracting and the detail the author implemented was very fascinating

Character - 10/10:
Goodness, where do I begin. The character design in this manga, the MULTITUDE of personalities was phenomenal. All the characters made me feel a certain way - whether it was deep and extreme hatred, powerful connection and resemblance, absurd interest, cringe, love, pity... all characters made me feel numerous ways, and each exact emotion was different towards each character. The character development for characters, which was either very clear or hinted, made me very happy.

Enjoyment - 10/10:
As I said before, this manga was the first one to make me so engrossed with a series. Any time I got, I was reading it, and I never felt a chapter to be bland or insufficient.

Made in Abyss review
Mod Edit: this review may contain spoilers.

This manga has gained a fair amount of attention for its artwork, it's absolutely stunning. It has a lovely aesthetic, and there was clearly a lot of effort put into the detail. The settings are unique, and are very telling about the story's world. The whole narrative revolves around descending and ascending "the Abyss", and the surrounding town of Ōsu seems to be almost sliding into the Abyss, pulling you in. The landscapes are very vertical, even the classroom in the orphanage has desks attached to the walls, requiring the children to climb to them. Everything looks large and imposing in contrast with the main characters.
I've seen a lot of people compare the artwork and atmosphere to that of Ghibli films, but if I'm honest it reminds me of ecchi works. Right from the beginning, there was *something* about how the children were drawn (especially Riko's cheeks?) that made me question whether or not the mangaka was a loli/shotacon. Reading on, I found that several of these children are shown topless or naked, and the soft way in which they are rendered made me uneasy. There are at least 6 specific instances that I can think of where Reg's genitals are discussed. Many of the children have loosely fit clothing over their chests, even when they are supposed to be portrayed sympathetically. Additionally, the mangaka seems to have some odd interests - I currently don't have the ability to phrase this the way I want to, but there's something about the way that pee and vomit is discussed and drawn that made me suspicious.

The story is decent - the beginning few chapters set the location well, and create a sense of intrigue. As Riko and Reg descend the Abyss, there's a real sense of progression. They are introduced to various sets of characters, learn new things, move on and repeat the process. None of these arcs felt pointless to me. However, in some sections, especially the Bondrewd arc, I felt that the pacing got a little slow, and the story could've been more streamlined.

The characters are fairly interesting, Riko and Reg both have good motivations for reaching the bottom of the Abyss - the former wants to find her mother, and the latter wants to find out why he was made. Riko has been raised in a town where many people aspire to explore the Abyss, and are prepared for the strains of ascending it - being unable to return from the lower levels is just matter of fact to them. Riko has an almost-encyclopedic knowledge of a lot of the known areas, treasures and creatures of the Abyss. Reg, being an amnesiac blank state is an audience surrogate for Riko's explanations. There's a lot mystery surrounding Reg's creation and history, although more questions have been created then answered so far. Nanachi is very sympathetic, though I worry that she doesn't have as much of a reason for being there as the other two - she achieves her goal quite soon after she is introduced.

I stopped reading after the Bondrewd arc. The situations these children were put into made me too uncomfortable to continue. I'm not talking about the body horror or anything, that's fine for an adult work like this. However, adult doesn't always have to mean sexual, *especially* if the main character is a 12 year old girl. It's a real shame, I think that Made in Abyss could've been really good if the mangaka didn't have such worrying tastes.

Re:Zero kara Hajimeru Isekai Seikatsu review
Well, this is my very first review, so I don't have a big skill of writing it, furthermore English is not even my native language, so I apologize for the mistakes. By the time of writing I have read first 4 arcs of WN.

Re:Zero is one of my most favourite light novels. It takes very common concept like "Ordinary Japanese High School Student is being transported into alternative world" and adds to this generic thing some originality through concept which is very common in video games — respawn.

Story — 8/10

Re:Zero is more than just cool concept of time travels. The Plot is also very interesting. The story unfolds around Natsuki Subaru and his misadventures in alternative world. He is Ordinary High School Student with no supernatural abilities, except for one — He can return to the very specific point in time every time he dies and he dies a lot in this story, full of pain and despair. Overcoming obstacles he becomes more mature and stronger(What does not prevent him from remaining stupid when the story requires it, but i'll leave it for the Character section). The world of this story is full of mysteries, most of which are still unclear, and I'm looking forward to see all the story behind this world. Nevertheless, the story has its flaws, the largest of which is the inertness of the plot. We just don't know what's the point of all that just happened. Subaru just overcomes obstacles that fate sends him and he doesn't has any purpose in this world, except for serving Emilia, i guess...

The story is not over yet, so we'll see what happens next!

Art — 10/10

I have nothing to say about illustrations in this LN. It has very good and enjoyable artstyle. Shinichirou Ootsuka has done his job well.

Character — 7/10

So we came to my favorite part — characters. You see, Re:Zero is kind of time travel story which means all relationships Subaru makes can be easily reset, so Subaru gets the lion's share of development. From a naive and selfish child he becomes... mature and less selfish child, I guess. He has to face many difficulties and stay sane. He has some mental breakdowns throughout the story, he sees death of his friends, disgusting monsters and other horrible things, he doesn't know if it'll be his last life and doesn't want to feel the pain all over again. But he has a very special friend who will be on his side no matter what happen. Yeah, I'm talking about Rem — The best girl of 2016 and possibly the whole millennium. She supports him throughout first 3 arcs and becomes his motivation in 4 and subsequent arсs. Lovable(ness? I dunno) of Subaru is the subject of numerous disputes. Some of my friends has dropped the book(and the anime) because of his stupidity and whining. He constantly suffers and cries. But hey, let's face it. He's just 17-year old NEET who has been teleported into another world and the only power he has been gained is Returning By Death. You know, dying is hurt, like really, really, really hurt. And, you know, watching your loved ones death is also hurts. I personally find Subaru a very realistic character and if I were him, i would probably just went crazy. But apart from all this, something is very confusing to me. He's able to do some political stuff like it's just a piece of cake, but he's not able to understand that interrupt important negotiations with his pseudo-chivalrous outcry is probably not the best idea. So yeah, Subaru is smart when plot requires it, but if plot requires him to be stupid, he's stupid as hell. I won't write anything about secondary cast, but each has some story behind, own moral principles and world view.
(Especially Garfiel and Echidna, love them)

Enjoyment — 13/10

nuff said.

Overall — 9.5

I recommend this LN to each and everyone of you. In my opinion, Re:Zero is the best "Isekai" light novel. Some will love it, some hate it. Re:Zero has its flaws, but they don't interfere with enjoyment of this series.

So, that's it. Once again I apologize for mistakes, if there were any. Hope this review helped you somehow.

Yokohama Kaidashi Kikou review
10s across the board on this manga,

With only 16 pages so much is seen and said, the start is a bit slow it may be too much slice of life for some people, but give it some time and its no easing and subtle motions will pull you into a world of sights emotions and understanding, you will feel something, sometimes joy, sometimes sadness, sometimes little smiles and other times just plain aloofness like a cloud.

I hate slice of life anything and this is the epitome of it! and I loved it! So if that doesn't explain how great it is, it literally set out to be one and achieved it in such the perfect none boring and non dull and unique way, i mean its part syfy without hardly any syfy and its amazing, its simply amazing how enthralled you can get just from taking in the visuals and just by slowing reading and taking in the words.

Literally the most slice of life thing i ever read, wanted a bit more info on the story, but that may have torn away from its seemingly aloof and simply living life value of it all, overall awesome, felt good reading it and finishing it, also sad, but overall, a swell feeling of sorts, fulfilling i wouldn't say, but certainly a calm of sorts, and a nice emotion, maybe satisfyingly filling in an emotional and zen way though.

Kinda interesting how alpha takes it in all of the world she lives in there, and the manga just pulls you along with her, the way she experiences it, it kinda just shimmers off and you experience it as well with her like you're there watching the time float by, and its just so down to earth and feels like my reality as well at times, i understand her so well, and the facial expressions are so well you just feel and know what shes going through, it was just ever so submersive, in every way it was... A damn well deserved masterpeice.

I didn't think so at first but little by little i grew more and more attached to it, and at one point i was wondering what it was all about and then eventually i stopped wondering, and i just didn't want it to end in the end, i just wanted the experience to drift onward... you know.... thats probably the best way to explain this entire story. Such a life, a life we all live.

And the way so little is said but so much implied in day to life, that was really real to, and i enjoyed that, though again sad, its a nice perspective, a nice sense of things while reading,,,, nice recommendation for sure, so thanks for that. Thanks to the author who wrote and drew this, you are the man my man! And you deserve a good life, hope its happenin!

And thanks to you all for reading! This is the first manga I've ever reviewed and it deserved it and one of the first i've ever really finished, and a rare reader of sorts, let me tell you, it really goes to say just how good it was for me to stick around till the end, sure it was a while from the start, but once i had some time and got back into the immersion, i really wasn't wanting it to end.

End Note/Comment
Hmmmm, so i finally finished yokohama,,, two years now, well two years reading the first 60, i read the other 60-80 in about 3 months. But kinda sad there was no chapt 142 like mal says, and 141 was an epilogue but also involved in a novel written by someone else, and that novel sounds sad and way off track of the mangas ending so i just like to think that 141 was the true ending,

I also like to think one of the last characters who showed up unnamed, was a descendent of one of the main characters, but who truly knows how or if they were related.
But it was interesting in the final 2 volumes that they have tons of time skips, this manga covers a lot of ground and i think you should read it if you're reading this! - It really had a pretty complete ending, and though i wanted a bit more of it, that was well enough for me. - 10/10 - Certainly a masterpiece of calm flowing art and subtle shimmering writing my dudes and dudets.

Again, thanks for reading and this has been a review by God-Of-Wolves! - Later to the lovely ladies who've taken the time to read, and to all my home dogs, you dudes keep things cooler than cool out there! And until next time! Farewell,,,,

Death Note review
Q: What happens when an unstoppable Mary Sue meets an immovable Mary Sue?
A: Death Note.

The protagonist, and his adversary, are both genius pretty boys (with the odd names of Light and L) who have an incredible amount of achievements and skill for their young age. Light somehow predicts things that he could not possibly have the foresight to predict, because, you know, probability is a thing. Don’t worry though, it’s not like you know that he’ll always win, because L possesses this exact same unexplained and ludicrous ability to predict the future; he just does so without a cheesy “Just as planned!” catchphrase that makes me want to shoot myself every-time it graces my ears. In this way, rather than being a dark and mysterious thriller, Death Note often manages to be an overblown mental mudslinging contest between two impossibly perfect master practitioners of bullshit who are both describable in a single sentence. This is epitomized in an early scene where the two, who both have tennis skills at a professional level, get into a match and engage in a ridiculously drawn-out internal line of logic about how the desire to not lose might relate to the true identity of the other.

Furthermore, what kind of psychological mystery thriller has a plot entirely driven by coincidences, improbabilities, and impossibilities? Again, Death Note. Plot devices like this were used every-time the manga found itself in a narrative corner, and these cop-outs always completely killed the tension that was built up to that point, while simultaneously disengaging the plot from the audience.

The concept was intriguing, and I won’t say it did not entertain me at some parts, but it was ultimately far too flawed in its execution to be called enjoyable or good overall, and it never managed to pull off the promise of its premise. It seemed overdone at times, with eye-roll worthy developments, and lines like “I take a potato chip and eat it!” delivered with the utmost significance and conviction, devoid of any irony or self-awareness. Light’s ability, of writing a name in a notebook as a method of killing, is initially well established and limited, while being relatively creative, although you would think he’d be able to do a bit more with it, but the way the new rules of the note are introduced as the story goes on can get a tad contrived.

Characterization quality is somewhat varied, but I would say that it's generally not all that good. It was bad, really. Light is a bit too perfect, his only flaws being the well-concealed logical results of his perfection, such as his narcissism and overconfidence. It could be argued that this flawlessness was intentionally done in an effort to depict the deconstruction of a seemingly perfect human being, but I think this concept eventually fell flat. It would have been far more interesting to see an average teenager find the note and watch the scope of his ambitions and arrogance develop over time. Light is arrogant, ambitious, and a staunch consequentialist from the very outset; this, logically, kills almost all opportunity for development. As for the rest of the characters, L was far more interesting and entertaining than Light, although he was even more unrealistic, evoking the child prodigy and boy detective clichés among other things; I mostly found myself rooting for him rather than the protagonist. Light's eventual “girlfriend” falls in love with him, to the extent of obsession, right away, as the plot commands it, and this insufficiently-explored obsession with him defines her entire character. There is absolutely nothing to her besides that, despite her eventually becoming one of the most significant characters in the series. In all actuality, the motivations for most characters, besides the protagonist and the Shinigami, are hazy at best and, with the exception of L, none of them are interesting in the slightest.

Death Note has some religious symbolisms and themes, which are underplayed and done well until a forced Christ allegory towards the middle, but this all kind of falls apart in the second half and all of the symbolism quickly vanishes into thin air. To make matters more dire, the already limited development of the protagonist stagnates and his adversary is quickly replaced by two identical, yet duller and less compelling, copies. At the same time, while the developments and additional rules to Light’s ability in the first half were often a bit contrived, they were usually better than nothing; pretty much all evolution stops in the second half, and it only gets worse. The manga essentially loses everything that it ever had going for it, and it then lies fallow in that inadequate stage for the remainder of the plot, all leading up to an anticlimactic conclusion that the audience knew was coming from the very beginning. The manga would have lost nothing to speak of had that conclusion come around 4 volumes earlier than it did. Therefore, as the plot progressed, it increasingly lost its higher significance and simultaneously started to wear thin the initial appeal of its premise.

The art is arguably the strongest, or least flawed, aspect of Death Note, the character design being particularly astounding, with the exception of a couple characters introduced in the second half whose designs were either dumb-looking or recycled. The art is generally pretty atmospheric and it never skimps on detail out of convenience, although not much detail is required in the first place. The design of the main antagonist, while understated, is particularly impressive due to the fact that he manages to be very aesthetically appealing, despite the ridiculous heroin chic vibe that the audience gets from him. It is usually pretty stellar, although side characters aren't all that detailed.

In the end, what Death Note did accomplish was hackneyed and not all that original; it could not be called “deep” nor was it ever cutting-edge in the grand scheme of things. The coincidences and general improbabilities that drove the plot bar it from being called “realistic,” more than the out-there premise ever could. That said, it should be given some credit for featuring a true antihero, who is still often admired by the audience, and ultimately not being afraid to portray him as pathetic. It also never used the character’s high school age as an excuse to throw light school-life hijinks into the plot. But these positive qualities unfortunately failed to have too much influence in the industry, and they are additionally outweighed by negatives in the universe of the manga itself. Code Geass, a blatant Death Note rip-off, wasted no time at all in taking every single good Death Note did and flipping it all on its head. I might recommend Death Note, if only for the first half, but only with a warning that it fell apart and that even the first half is not as great as it's often made out to be. You honestly might be best off watching the first half and simply skimming the plot summary of the second, because it has nothing of value to offer the reader beyond that point.

Note: This is mostly a modified version of my review for the anime. They follow the same storyline and suffer from the same fundamental issues.

Dorei Yuugi review
Dorei Yuugi was a pretty interesting manga to read about individuals being captured, their rankings being marked as letters A-E based on their catch rate and strengths, and of the course being used as slaves to kill other slaves ordered by their "masters".

*Spoilers Ahead*

The story was pretty interesting about a young man named Kai, who comes across an online mobile game titled "Go Slave". At first thinking that it was just a game, he spots a male teacher and uses tools from the mobile game to capture him. Seeing that nothing seemed to happen to the teacher, Kai tries to capture a female classmate of his, but decides that it is wrong and ends up running away.

Later that same day, Kai is greeted by a strange man and follows him to a strange building. Entering the room, Kai witnesses the male teacher that he captured, gets killed in front of his very eyes. Moving forward, Kai is forced to play the game by using his own slaves in order to save a female classmate of his. By doing this, Kai promises his slaves that he will free them from this game and himself without killing anymore people.

In the final act of the story, Kai uses his slaves to compete against the current champions slaves in hopes of finally being able to put an end to this game. Both teams have to fight against their opponents while also trying to keep their platform from sinking into the lava as boxes begin to fall onto each of their teams platforms. With the battle becoming more intense by the minute, Kai manages to defeat all five of the champion's slaves one by one. However, Kai's team is struggling to stay alive as his own platform begins to sink into the lava. In an attempt to save his team, Kai's slaves manage to make it out alive.

Unfortunately for Kai, he ends up losing the game and later becomes a slave. Kai screams with frustration as he is no longer able to return to the surface.

I thought that the ending was pretty disappointing and kind of made me feel mad b/c Kai's team ended up staying alive during the final round, but somehow lost their own platform by which means they lose. I honestly wouldn't consider having the platform to still be standing be a rule of the game. As a reader I began to develop a sense of hope for Kai's survival of winning the game. But, I guess the author didn't want me and the other readers of the manga to just simply accept the fact that the main character is supposed to win but instead lose.

Overall, It's an alright manga to read though the cover of the manga speaks for itself about the ending.
