Резюме
Still reeling from the childhood trauma of losing his family to a blaze, Shinra Kusakabe endures both the blessing and curse of being a third-generation pyrokinetic: a person gifted with the ability to freely control fire.

Meanwhile, the Infernals—first-generation pyrokinetics who spontaneously combust into flaming, demonic creatures—ravage the streets of Tokyo. After he is recognized for his abilities, Shinra joins Special Fire Force Company 8, one of many fire brigades developed to combat these Infernals.

Although working with the Fire Force seems to have fulfilled a calling, Shinra learns that becoming a hero is not as easy as it seems. Infernal sightings are worsening across the country, and his own fellow brigadiers struggle to unite against these threats. To make matters worse, Shinra's past returns to haunt him after he confronts a mysterious cult. As he endeavors to reach the truth, Shinra soon finds himself in the middle of a conspiracy that aims to engulf the world in flames.

To be fair I have to say I dropped this pretty early on because I have zero tolerance for certain stuff in anime/manga, but I will try to confer my thoughts as best I can. This is my opinion as someone who doesn't waste time watching Shonen nowadays, just seinen and the exception of a rare Shonen (such as Boku no Hero Academia, the only one I consider out of the box along with Kimetsu no Yaiba). This review also has some spoilers. Just the basic gist of the first arc I got to read.

Story — 6

Up until chapeter it is pretty simple and bland. You have your standard MC who lost their parents in a fire and decides he's going to be a hero. He also has exceptional powers. So he decides to join some op and badass firefighters. Then he finds that there's a bad smell coming from within the firefighter corps and decides to take a look only to find there's some corruption goin on between and within squads. Pretty cliche. It also has a tournament, by the title of one of the chapters. Another cliche from your typical shonen. If you like that then, by all means, go ahead and watch it.

Art — 9

This is extremely upsetting because it has an amazing art and an amazing character design. I loved Joker as a villain, I loved how the characters had something to them that defined them. Obi's soft eyes, for example, are something I loved. This too has something that backfired: FANSERVICE.

The fanservice is almost downright vulgar. I don't want to watch a character groping another. I don't want to see genitals in a shonen that is clearly aimed for young people. It has so many good moments but the fanservice is a little bit TOO much.

Character — 5

A standard shonen cast. The fanservice girl(s), the brooding older woman (basically a Tsunade), the innocent girl, the one who's constantly sexually harassed, and then you have the boys. The MC who's basically Naruto and can (and will) use the infamous "talk no jutsu" to overcome everything that gets in his way, the soft mentor (which is the only thing I like. I love Obi.), The strict teacher, and the MC's rival. I felt I was watching Naruto all over again.

Enjoyment — 6

I spent half of my time reading cringing and trying really hard not to cry out of frustration. This story had such a good potential and the author threw a lot of cliches and a lot of disgusting fanservice just for the sake of capturing his audience. It gets me sad because a lot of shonen stories with nice ideas get dumped because of mangas like this, full of repetitive, overused tropes and pointless fanservice.

The only thing I will say I like is the corruption part.

Overall — 5

I just cannot day anything else that's good. The art is amazing, the story is mediocre and cliche, it has a lot of fanservice and some glimmers of a good story that doesn't really connect that well due to the excessive use of recycled tropes in shonen—like shows.

Short version:
It's brainless fun, meant to be enjoyed by people who don't mind shallow narratives.

Story: 3 (MAJOR SPOILERS)
The first few arcs were quite a joy to read, off to a good start. Despite the ridiculous premise of fire fighters literally using fire to kill walking flaming monsters, I was very immersed in the premise. The world the characters reside in was so real and alive, even the minor details were considered. Characters had enough time to shine and had excellent chemistry. The mystery of Spontaneous Human Combustion was very intriguing. The more I read, the more I got addicted.

Then we are introduced to the first major villain, Company 5 commander, Captain Hibana. Then she gets defeated in literally one chapter and crushes on our MC, the conflict is then resolved in the next chapter and everyone is friends again! Then it turns out the Infernals were artificially created, oh turns out the fleas cause Spontaneous Human Combustion, oh turns out the fleas came from the extra-dimensional realm called the nether, oh turns out alien demons are responsible, now moles can talk, a bunch of KKK pyromaniacs are trying to turn all of humanity into Infernals, everyone one their mom is so concerned about this adolla burst flame (which the MC has), the holy tokyo empire were lying about the origins of the Infernals, blah blah blah.....

In summary, the pacing is way too fast, the plot has too many elements introduced in it, too many unnecessary characters, there is no narrative weight or impact in the later chapters due to the sheer amount of plot threads. It feels like I'm being wrangled by the neck whenever I read the next chapter.

Art: 9
It is such a shame that a story like this gets such fine art. Every characters' design looks cool as shit, except for Tamaki. The powers and fight scenes are very entertaining, and even more ultra badass in the anime. The use of lines and gradients really look unique and breath life into the story, it feels like the characters are actually moving.

Characters: 7
Solid job establishing the goals and motivations of the cast, even the supporting cast. However, the score was lowered because of my pet peeves on Hibana's story arc and Tamaki just existing in the story juz cuz fan service. Additionally, the much cooler guys like captain Benimaru, Joker, Karim and captain Obi are sidelined in exchange of just Shinra and more KKK arsonist shenanigans.

Enjoyment: 5
The worst thing any piece of entertainment, no matter good or bad, no matter the medium, should never do is to bore the audience. It is meant to entertain, via mystery, via story, via presentation.
But in this case, the mangaka is force feeding the story down my throat. When I read the later chapters, it felt too overwhelming, which dampens the reading experience. You literally get flooded by the amount of shit that occurs. One moment it's Company 8 Helping reconstruct a destroyed Asakusa and slowly earning the trust of a reluctant anti Tokyo Empire Captain. Next thing, Shinra's little brother is teleporting by bending space with his fire powers. Next thing, Haijima (the heavily hinted to be major bad guys) is completely forgotten and the KKK wants to burn the world to return to their god.
The tone is so all over the place, it caused me to go into a stroke from the sudden change in pacing.
For god's sake slow down the pacing.

Overall: 4
I'd only recommend this series to people who only enjoy action. There's just too many flaws to be an acceptable story in my eyes. I personally feel that the mangaka is just unsure of the direction he is heading with the story and it clearly shows.

Enen no Shouboutai is a manga that is really capable of engaging the reader just after reading a few chapters. We are following a story where the main character is called a demon... Interesting? Some people would say yes and will be a no for others.

Story-9 Personally I started the manga after reading about its beginning in one of the covers of Fairy Tail and I immediately fell in love with the story, till this day I cannot say I have read something similar and although in some cases I think they handle the story in a quick way, then they end up convincing me of the opposite.

I never thought to read a story about firefighters, much less one like this ... possibly a little cliche the fact that all humanity is at a crossroads where that will decide if the planet will face it's end or not, but at the same time it gives a serious air to the series.

Art-8 Very good, easy to understand and with a perfect style for a Shonen Manga like this one, personally I think is good enough, other Mangas have become very popular having a worse style.

Characters- 8 You can find original characters, characters with really good background stories, with good sense of humor, intelligents, very bold and also the typical characters of a Shonen anime. They are trying to embrace with their characters each of the possibilities that can exist in a world as the story unfolds.

I will not talk about the enjoyment since I think it's pretty personal, but overall, this Manga is pretty good, will make you have really good time while you're reading it.

[Spoiler Warning]

Important stuff before review:

1) If you don't know, the author of this manga is the same of Soul Eater, so expect a similar character design. (I didn't read ou watch Soul Eater so I can't say if they are similar)

Now the Review:

Story - 6

This is the typical bad appellative shounen (in good portuguese: típico shounen ruim apelão). What I mean with this? I mean it is full of all cliches that we are used to read in a shounen:

#Orphan boy - check

#Rivalry between friends since always - check

#Evil brother - check

#Girl that gets naked all the time without explanation - check

#All the hero piffle, and "friendship is important", and "keep promises", "I want to be a... Hokage/Wizard King/Best Exorcist stuff (in this one is actually hero or knight-king)" - check

But this is my impression of the beginning of the story, after reading almost all chapters out, I can say that it gets better and we are developing a real plot by now. The author didn't explain everything, but it is getting thick.

The story is strange, because "people get burned out of nowhere" and the people who help them, the firefighters, actually use fire to "save them". This resembles Fahrenheit 451 a lot (the firefighters put books on fire).

In the beginning, the fire powers are just normal. But then it start to appear a lot of powers that doesn't make sense, the author manages to put time-travel in relation with fire (so, it is kind of WTF). But you just get it, because just normal fire would get dull eventually (*ironic*).

About the story, you get a lot of fights -> main guy improving/training -> more fights -> a few relax chapters (with fan service probably) -> more fights and getting new allies/friends -> increasing the harem -> a few mysteries -> more fights...

Art - 8

Art is nice, it is strange, but it is good. No complaints. There is a lot of bizarre and creepy faces. When it needs to be detailed, it is.

Character - 7

I already said above we have the typical shounen troupes - people with dark pasts, villains that we don't understand at all (but I hope we will someday). The characters are not really developed, but in a shounen, who cares? If you want to see a lot of fights with a lot of ass-pull, this is for you.

Ok, now serious. We at least get to see the past of all the main ones (the 8th brigade), everybody act consistently. I don't have complaints (they are cliche, but we already expected that)

Enjoyment - 7

This story is good to get some fun, see/read some good fights, and usually fast ones (points to the author for not dragging the fights too much), relax, and even laugh a lot in some hilarious chapters, but don't expect the best manga of your life.

Overall - 7
