Резюме
Considered a genius, high schooler Fuutarou Uesugi excels at studying and obtains a perfect score on every test. Due to his intense focus on that regard, he is a reclusive person with no friends. Additionally, he lives in a tight financial state as a result of family debts.

Fuutarou's mundane lifestyle is interrupted when Itsuki Nakano, a new transfer student, contests him for his usual lunch seat. After a short altercation, Fuutarou emerges victorious by insulting Itsuki's eating habits, which angers her enough to leave. However, when Fuutarou learns that he has been offered the private tutor position of a wealthy family's academically hopeless daughters, he immediately regrets his prior encounter. It turns out that the beneficiaries of his tutoring are none other than Itsuki and her four identical siblings: the shy Miku, the cheerful Yotsuba, the devious Nino, and the mature Ichika!

Teaching these quintuplets may prove more difficult for Fuutarou than he initially expected, as the last thing they want to do is seriously study. Now, Fuutarou must face the various challenges of tutoring five beautiful yet eccentric girls.

Quintessential Quintuplets is what I'll describe as something that had amazing potential, yet it really failed to deliver at the end of the series.

Story: To start the plot basically moves from seeming like a continuous story; though at a certain point; (around 75%), the story of the Manga completely shifts into becoming something totally different from what was going on during most of the story and moves into what I would describe as an overrated fan-fiction. The problem with QQ is that it throws curveballs at every end; and despite it allowing it to create unique scenarios of unexpectedness, when the entire story is written in this curveball effect, (rather than using it only for the best scenarios), the entire story as a whole becomes less meaningful. The pacing was good and at times the story would be classified as a masterpiece though when the ending became forced and was extremely illogical; that really decreased the story as a whole.

I wish I could give this story section more than one rating per volume; but I'll just say Volumes 1-10 are 10/10, and volumes 11-14 are 1/10; but for the sake of rating the story as a whole I'd give it a

Story: 4/10.

Art: The art for this story was unique and each of the scenes are very clean and well-done. Characters Designs as a whole really allowed each character to stand-out despite having the same face and body and it was relatively easy to tell who was who by their design. The backgrounds for the manga were simply amazing. The only thing that may be a fault are moments when Fuutarou has to guess individual quints in the series where the girls are all looking the same; but otherwise the art really was distinctive.

Art: 10/10, if you are looking for a visual treat, this is something that will interest you.

Character: The main characters are the 5 sisters who are quints, as well as the MC Fuutarou. Each of the 5 girls despite this being a Harem manga don't just exist for romantic interest with Fuutarou and they all have their own unique characters flaws, backstories, and interests. As for the MC himself, he develops into being cold and later moves on with his life. Though this is also something that despite starting good, turns out worse as the story progresses with the characters all being important to having one character in particular being completely ignored and having terrible development compared to the rest. The supporting cast was very minimal; however, they all seemed to move the story in some way and help both the girls and Fuutarou change in some way. There is a problem though with the story of making these girls more individualist rather than a collective and that is by the end of the story the characters felt less like sisters and they became more like acquaintances who happen to have the same parents.

Character: 8/10, I really would like to give this a 10/10; however, due to the characterization heavily declining in the later arcs I'll stick with 8/10.

Enjoyment: In general I enjoyed most of the series; however, knowing what I know about the story now; I will likely never re-read this Manga again. The series had some very emotional parts; however, in general I feel like Negi was overdoing it with the playing of the readers intelligence to the point where it became bad. The series was very memorable and even though it was relatively mediocre in it's enjoyable there were parts of the story that I absolutely loved. Though the ending really caused to heavily enjoy the series a lot less.

Enjoyment: 5/10, it's fine, but not exactly something I'd recommend for the enjoyment factor alone.

Story: 4

Art: 10

Character: 8

Enjoyment: 5

Overall: 7

I'm probably being too generous in my rating of an overall of 7, but in general the Manga was good; I only wish that the last 4 volumes quite simply were either better or didn't exist.

Story -7/10
QQ stands out from other harem mangas with the unique setup of each member being a quintuplet. For around 3/4 of the manga, story is very well written, to the point where id give it an 8-9/10. Each tuplet, (except for one, see later) gets a detailed character arc(s) and development with the MC. There is no obvious "main girl", the author does a good job stringing the reader along across multiple routes. Dialogue is detailed and varied.

Characters -8/10
This is where QQ shines, in my eyes. Each sister (except for one) has flaws, issues, yet is helped and develops with the MC along their own arcs. Each one is entertaining and unique, there is a type for every reader. MC is unique, not your average amazing nice guy like most of this type of manga.

Art-9/10
Art is excellent, from character design, drawing, and panel layout.

Caveat:
Savor the journey, as the end is controversial at the very least. One of the sisters, the quint chosen in the end, just doesnt get enough development. QQ is 122 chapters as to the very similar Nisekoi's 220+. It feels... rushed and not genuine. The MC's relationship with the chosen quint just isnt believable, so much to the point that even fans of that quint are upset. Honestly, any other of the 4/5 quints would be more believable.

Overall-7/10
This manga had a huge amount of potential and was great for most of its publishing. The journey itself is 9/10, and definitely worth a read. Just prepare yourself for the ending

Honestly going into The Quintessential Quintuplets I expected it to be a normal harem and I was completely content with that. However, I was completely wrong. This series manages to surprise me so many times and got me genuinely invested in these characters.

The premise is really interesting. One of them is the childhood friend Fuutarou met when he was little and one of them is the bride that he will eventually marry in the future. Getting hints throughout the story of who he is going to choose was one of my favourite things to do while reading this manga. The author really puts effort into developing characters all equally to not give any obvious answers as to who might win and always keep the reader wondering and hoping that their favourite will win. I was already spoiled on who would win but that's what got me into the manga in the first place after finishing the anime so I didn't mind. On the contrary, it made my reading that much more enjoyable and helped me see all the subtle hints the mangaka leaves throughout the story to suggest who won and who he has chosen. Overall it's really engaging to read even if you know who's won as I did. It must be even better for someone who doesn't know the outcome and has the constant worry and uncertainty of who wins. This series is really effective at dividing up the screentime between characters to keep up that uncertainty and they build up the ending to beautiful effect. It feels this was definitely planned from the very beginning and left me feeling so satisfied when I got to the end of this great story.

The characters are all great. I didn't have a single character I disliked which is very rare for a harem. It just goes to show how well the author developed every character to be likable. There were some ups and downs for certain characters but overall I loved the entire cast. They all had their own quirks and personalities and all had their own problems and way of dealing with things that made it more and more interesting to keep reading to see how events would get resolved. The author manages to develop all five of the sisters to amazing effect and give them all depth. They also manage to twist normal harem tropes into making them unique and interesting such as Nina who at first seems like the typical tsundere but later on is given character development that changes her character in a very surprising way. All of them have some sort of character development throughout the story that makes you want to route for all of them at the same time. Miku and Ichika also get tons of development and the author really explores the problems that come from being Quintuplets. There is quite a bit of drama between the sisters throughout the series but that's to be expected when five sisters like the same guy. Some of the conflicts I was genuinely worried and concerned about how they would be resolved especially when it came to the outside characters such as the sister's dad who acts as the opposing emotionless farther. Despite making all the girls lovable I can bet that most will probably end up supporting one slightly more than the others at some point in the story. For me that was Yotsuba. But in my case, it was less supporting her slightly more than the others and more so supporting her completely. She was by far my favourite character in the series and she never ceased to amaze me at how much of an angel she was. Her cuteness and sometimes awkwardness were adorable to see and she supports all the sisters and Fuutarou through thick and thin. Always giving encouraging smiles and cheeky grins. Every time she smiled or grinned I couldn't help but so the same. Ever since I saw her character design on the cover of the anime I immediately knew she would be my favourite, and to my expectation, she was, easily.

The art is really nice. As you can see on the cover the mangaka has a really nice style for making the girls looking cute. But as most mangakas, this one can do serious expressions really well so when the drama started kicking in you can bet there's gonna be some detailed expressions in those panels. I also really like the way the author takes full advantage of the fact the harem is made up of quintuplets to trick the reader and get them thinking. Most of the drama does originate from the fact they're quintuplets and the mangaka uses that to trick the reader by having the sisters change their appearances so while Fuutarou is trying to figure out who is who so are we. It's really satisfying when you get towards the end of the manga and start to notice the patterns in the character's actions and expressions to help determine who is who. It really shows how much I loved these characters to be able to distinguish them apart even when they dress the same way to purposely try and trick the reader and Fuutarou.

Now drama is quite present throughout this manga so if you can't really handle drama then it probably won't interest you that much but the mangaka handles it in a way that keeps it interesting and gives enough rewarding scenes in between the drama-filled arcs that its enjoyable to read.

The ending was also a pretty nice way to round up the series. It did feel a little bit compensating for everyone else who's ship didn't win but it wasn't that bad so it can be forgiven.

Now here's a word of warning, if you're easily offended if your favourite character doesn't win I wouldn't suggest reading all of this manga since there is a 1/5 chance your character will win. I would highly recommend reading most of it though as its a great story. If you don't want Fuutarou to pick someone I'd suggest stopping at around the 87 chapter mark as after that is when he starts seriously considering the prospect.

However overall this is an absolutely great harem manga that I highly recommend people go out and read immediately. The entire cast is likable making me feel as if I didn't care who won out of the five (at least at first) and they're all developed really well to the point where I feel very familiar with all they have to offer.

9/10, if you love harem manga you'll probably like this as long as you can accept him choosing someone.

A criminally underrated manga even at an 8 rating.

This manga fanned the flames in flame wars seldom seen from manga fans.
These 5 characters weren't particularly deep, especially in the early chapters. However, they get developed and fleshed out as time goes on, and the best part is that they grow. My most disliked character became my favorite character, and a lot of characters that I thought I'd like for the entirety of the story ended up not shining as bright as some others. What's beautiful is that depending on who you talk to, people will interpret the characters I'm talking about as different characters.

Time passes and a few chapters in, you'll feel invested. Happy moments make you happy, and sad moments make you sad. There are panels that are incredibly drawn and really hit you in the feels. In terms of enjoyment, it's up there. The story is finished now but the chapter by chapter discussions were incredible and although waiting for the next chapter was sometimes agonizing, it's saddening to lose that happy feeling when a new chapter comes out.

The story never really pushed some narratives in an urgent way and a lot of the plot gets pushed aside to start others. Unfortunately the manga has to end and time couldn't be spared to fully flesh out some subplots. Other manga might have side stories to fulfill this need but I think with this kind of manga that's just not possible and that's a sad reality we have to accept.

The ending is getting talked about a lot and without spoiling, all I can really say is that if the manga is going to be good, someone has to lose, and in this case many people lose. Of course a lot of people are saddened especially if they are on the losing side of things, but salt aside, this is one of very few manga that have the guts to dissatisfy people for the quality of the manga.

If you're someone that likes to yell at the protagonist of harem stories to pick someone already, you'll love this manga.

Gotoubun is a harem manga, and it is better than most of harem mangas, you can pretty much guess the ending in normal harem mangas but Gotoubun is a little bit different.

Story 8

It is a story about 5 girls and a tutor.Relationships are pretty good, things doesnt feel like they are rushed or too slow, it has a very good pace.First half of the story is really good, this manga has a little bit mysterious aura in it which i found interesting.Second half of the story isn't good as first half, there are some plot holes. And sometimes things are happening so fast or they dont happen they're just mentioned that you get confused.I think there are unnecessary dramas in second half, it sometimes moves the focus to the quintuplets instead of the Fuutaro and i think those parts are not good.Final is good but if author did the final better i think this show could be better than 8.

Characters 9

Fuutaro is Chad.If you remove the Fuutaro from this manga it'll be average or worse than average. He is neither so perverted and always running for girls nor he is very dense and passive rock.He has emotions. He is not afraid of saying things and he is clever and understanble character (sometimes if you dig on to details you can really see what im talking about). He blushes rarely and it really fits to his character. He sometimes just doesn't give a fuck about relationships. It feels so real and senseful because of his mindset and his character. He develops as story continues but he doesnt really go out of his real self.Girl are good, some of them are more recognizable and memorable than the others.Itsuki is a sentive person, she likes to eat and she wants to be like her mother.Nino is a brave character, not afraid of saying the things she thinks and she tries hard to achieve what she wants.Ichika is a big sister type, shes relaxed and she likes to tease Fuutaro though Fuutaro doesnt even blush to her teasing.Miku is a quiet girl and she likes history.Yotsuba is a cheerful girl and she wants others to be happy.Other characters are not forgetable too.The relationship with the quintuplets and Fuutaro is very good.

Art 8

Art is good. Background details are really good sometimes.Girls and Fuutaro does look good.I think author couldnt do Fuutaro any better. It really suited him -who in the beginning only cares about money and study and not really enjoying his youth and having a bored look-.Girls have memorable features , there is a reason why Miku and Nino are so popular.

Enjoyment 9

I really enjoyed this manga.I think Gotoubun is the best harem manga i've read.I really wanted move forward and get to the new chapter. If you like harem mangas and you think most of harem animes are the same and want to experience an unique harem you must read this or if you want to see a good, understandable mc (Who isnt op just tries what he can, sometimes fails, sometimes get a succes, sometimes dont even care about the other unless it'll effect him a little bit selfish and a little bit egoistic but also knows himself) or if you like romance animes you should check this out.

8.5

I would rate this 9 normally because Gotoubun is the first manga i finished and it carries a nostalgic worth for me but i try to approach this review as critical as i can be, and i think this manga at least deserves a 8.5 rating if I remove the nostalgia factor.

Overall: 9/10
art: 8/10
characters: 8/10
plot: 9/10

SPOILERS BELOW
How do I start my text? differently! talking about quintuplets in order.
Ichika the "1st to like" Fuutarou and also the one that in my view did the most shit since pretending to be Miku, lying about the past among other things, in the end she ends up redeeming herself for her actions and achieving friendship do Fuutarou back, but it is to be expected that Fuutarou did not choose her, as he never felt affection for her beyond all the bad things she did to him and Miku.
Nino the "revolt" is the only one who always hated the presence of Fuutarou (because he did not want him to destroy the friendship of the quintuplets) and the study group, after an incident with Fuutarou's fake cousin who was Fuutarou himself, Nino begins to like Fuutarou (which until today I can’t accept, because for me it was very NOTHING) and imposes both for Fuutarou and for the other sisters who like him and who will face everyone on the way between her and him, Fuutarou he always had intrigues with Nino and with her strong personality, probably between 5 she would be the least likely to be with him in the end.
Miku the "goddess" of the work (yes she is my favorite) the 2nd who starts to like Fuutarou, but too shy to do anything to bring the relationship with Fuutarou even with the help of Ichika and the other sisters, but never she gave up going after him and with Nino's affront she started to be more active, but as we can see she didn't get the love she wanted.
Yotsuba the "fool" who never showed any affection for Fuutarou, but theoretically is the "0º" to like him, because she was the friend of the past that changed Fuutarou's whole life, Yotsuba has always liked Fuutarou since she discovered he was the boy from the past that she had known, in my view is the most developed in the personal and psychological part with all the guilt she had imposed on herself because of the school grades and the sisters, which with the help of Fuutarou and the sisters managed to win this psychological problem and move forward with your declaration of love to Fuutarou which was answered in a positive way as they started dating (even though they were two living doors).
Itsuki, the "glutton" who met Fuutarou at the beginning of the manga and is already rejected when he asks for help in his studies and when he discovers that he will be the private teacher, he has a foot in the back, Itsuki I have never quite understood what was happening in his head since Rena's creation, her love for Fuutarou and her mother's equal profession, but even with all that, she evolved in relation to her profession with the "biological father" "suddenly added to the plot (which will always be strange and a little hurry) as a "villain" that only serves to harm her, and that Fuutarou and her adoptive father stand out, but the important thing is that, in the end, she resolves herself in what she wants life and that she will not regret the choose, to love or not to love Fuutarou, I still have doubts about it today, because she is the only one who doesn’t really like Fuutarou, although there are some scenes (like when the two are hiding in the room, listening to Yotsuba and Nino talking and Itsuki will not let him see the phone screen, because the wallpaper is the two and Raiha) that show the opposite is still subjective to what she feels for him.
Well, the final chapter is a beautiful wedding with a small set of quintuplets closing the development of each of the sisters, confirming that the girl with the bell kiss was Yotsuba and ending with a ... Honeymoon harem? these quintuplets in

This manga is unlike any other harem, its captivating, emotional and full of lessons, If you are someone who loves romance this is highly recommended to you. I'm a person who really hate harem manga because of the crappy ending but this was something different, I fell in love with the characters from the start with each having their own set of quirks and problem. It can also be a pretty good starter to get someone into harem genre, in the end its definitely worth reading.

In the starting of the story it is indicated that Futarou marries one of the quintuplets but the identity is kept hidden.
Also it is also shown that Futarou has met one of the quintuplet in the past when
he was still in elementary and a completely different person.

STORY

The story follows a high school boy named Futarou Usegi, a study freak who is living in highly poor conditions with his father and sister and wants to do something for them and devotes himself to studying. One day in the school cafeteria he meets a girl named Ichika Nakano who gets really impressed by his excellent grades and asks him to study with as she was pretty poor in studying, Uesugi blatantly rejects her offer, a little while after he gets a call from his sister that finally our dept will be paid because father has found a pretty good job for you, you have to tutor a girl who is poor in studying and just transferred to your school, later Uesugi realizes that the girl he has to tutor is none other than Itsuki Nakano but as he already rejected her offer he fells reluctant to accept the job but seeing his sister so happy he was unable to reject. After that he tries to find Itsuki to apologize to her but end up running into a bunch of girls on the way who are actually the Nakano Sisters, when he finally finds Itsuki, he apologizes to her and also tells her about her family situation and but even though agreeing to allow him to tutor, she says that she can't study with him and he can just teach the other four and then he realizes that the other four are the girls he ran into and are actually quintuplets. Most of them don't agree to study at first but as the story goes on they end up accepting him and start to study. The story progresses and they all end up developing feeling for him and go through all sorts of different phases together.
Also quintuplets mother passed away because of a terminal illness when they were little and were taken in by their mothers student, Mr. Nakano who took care of their mother when she was left by her husband.

OVERALL

Overall the manga is definitely worth reading with a lot of plot twists which make the story captivating and there's no way you will be able to guess who Futarou will marry in the end. The story is great, the art is absolutely spectacular and beautiful, the characters are all lovable, the manga is filled with embarrassing, serious, funny, emotional moment and is definitely enjoyable.
SO GO GIVE IT A READ.
